England v Russia Preview, Euro 2016 Finals, Group B, Saturday 11th June 2016

England head into this game having put together some good results in the warmup to this tournament and with a strong looking squad every England fan around the country will be confident of seeing Roy Hodgson’s side do well in France.

A fine victory over Germany was followed by a 2-1 defeat against the Netherlands, but the three lions soon bounced back from that going on to beat the likes of Turkey, Australia and Portugual and the players will certainly be confident of getting the group started off on the front foot with a victory against Russia on Saturday evening.

Russia head into the match having lost three of their last five matches, but despite those the players will be confident about their chances of causing a bit of an upset in this one and the England team should certainly not under-estimate them by any mean.

Russia used to be quite a power house on the Internation scene a few years ago, but they have struggled to find that form in recent years and it will be interesting to see how they cope with the England attack of Harry Kane and James Vardy.

England Team News:

England have almost a full squad for this match, but could be without the services of both Ryan Bertrand and Chris Smalling for this opener as both players are reported to be receiving treatment for knocks.

Both players will under take a late fitness test on Friday evening to see if either of them can be selected. Harry Kane and James Vardy look the likely attack but there is some questions hanging in the air about Wayne Rooney’s role for this tournament.

Russia Team News:

Russia also have almost a full squad available for this game but have lost holding midfielder Igor Denisov to injury and he has had to be replaced by Artur Yusupov. Roman Shirokov and Aleksandr Kokorin will be the key players for England to watch.

England v Russia Head to Head Statistics:

Only two previous matches have been played between the two nations before and as you can see from our head to head statistics table below the honours have been shared with one victory a piece.

England are the clear favourites to win this game with a current best price available of 20/21 with Stan James – Receive £20 Free Bets when Registering a New Account and this does look good value considering the form Roy Hodgson’s side are in at the moment.

The Draw does have every chance of happening in this match as with it being both sides first game neither side will want to lose this match and so getting something on this game to finish all square could be a sensible option at a current best price of 12/5 with Bet365 – Receive £200 Matched Bets when You Register a New Account.

Russia won’t be an easy side to beat but do look a bit overpriced at their current odds on offer of 7/2 with Coral – Bet £5 & Receive £20 Free Bets for New Customers Registering an Account.

England v Russia Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

Opening matches of any big tournament are tough to call and although everything does seem to point towards an England victory, we have all seen over the years how England somehow seem to forget how to play at times in big tournaments.

However, I do believe England will get the job done on Saturday evening as for me their attack and midfield does look a threat to any side in this tournament and as long as the defence can stand tall this should be business as usual for Roy Hodgson’s side.

Russia have not had the best of results in the lead up to this tournament and were thrashed 4-2 by hosts France a few weeks ago, but despite those defeats Russia still have a side capable of winning matches in this group and it will be interesting to see how they get on with just one striker up front.

Onto some predictions then and my Banker Free Tip will be for England to Win as for me their squad is strongers in every position on the pitch and with the deadly duo of Kane and Vardy leading the attack I would expect England to score at least a couple during this game.

My First Goalscorer Free Tip will be for Harry Kane to get England off to the perfect start as with the Spurs striker having topped the leading goalscorer list this season in the league and looking better and better with each England game he plays in, he looks good value to score the first goal of this match.
