Derby County v Brentford Preview, Championship, Friday 9th April 2015

Derby were major title contenders a month ago, but poor results have left the club clinging to a play off promotion at best and they face a tough game Saturday afternoon when they play host to Brentford.

Brentford will see this game as one they could win after a run of good results and knowing their hosts have stuttered in recent weeks and with the club looking to add to their 8pts from their last four games played, I think they will be more than a hand full for Derby.

Derby County Team News:

Ryan Shotton is still suffering from concussion and will miss out of this game so manager Steve McClaren looks likely to stick with the same team lineup that started at the DW Stadium.

Brentford Team News:

Chris Long will undertake a late fitness test to see he can particapate having missed the draw against Nottingham Forest due to illness, but captain Jonathan Douglas looks likely to return having been rested in that game and will take his place back in the midfield for the visitors. Lewis Macleod and Scott Hogan still remain unavailable due to respective injury problems.

Derby County v Brentford Head to Head Statistics:

Saturday’s lunch time game from the iPro Stadium will become only the 13th meeting between the two clubs. Derby County have won 6 times with 3 having came with home advantage where as Brentford have also won 6 times with 3 having came at the iPro Stadium.

Our head to head statistics table below shows the last five meetings between the two clubs and as we can see it has been Derby County who have just edged recent proceedings having managed to win 3 times with Brentford having won 2 times.

Derby County v Brentford Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

An interesting game and one that based on what we have seen from both sides this season could go either way on the day.

Derby have gone from title winners to promotion candidates over the last four of five weeks with a run of poor results and although they did win last time out, it does seem that they might of left it a bit late in the day to have any real chance of securing the title or an automatic promotion place to the Premiership for next season.

Brentford have steadily made their way up the pecking order of the last couple of months and will definitely see this game as a real chance of making more headway towards that automatic promtion place as if they beat Derby they will go 2pts ahead of their hosts and that should be enough incentive for the players to be in the right frame of mind to get at least something from this game.

The head to head stats favour a home win and the average goals per game stats are suggesting we should see a fair few goals grace the back of the nets in this game, as such my banker is going to be for Over 2.5 Goals as this really does look like a very good value bet considering the goal stats and both teams desperate for the victory.

My Saver is going to be for Both Teams to Score & Draw as I could possibly see this game ending up in either a 2-2 or 3-3 result come the full time whistle and with the draw not having happened for a long time, many would argue that one is definitely overdue.
