Rotherham United v Bradford City Preview, League One, Friday 11th April 2014

Rotherham United have a great chance on Friday night to secure an automatic play off finish with only needing one point to secure it. Of course they will be continuing their push in a hope of winning all of their five games left remaining. They are currently nine points behind Brentford who are in 2nd position and in an automatic promotion finish. With just fifteen points remaining that are up for grabs by all teams in League One things are starting to look exciting as the season comes close to a finish.

Bradford City maybe mid table but are only six points away from a relegation battle, something they could be caught up in if their run of results don’t improve rapidly. It just shows how close this league is because if they win all of their remaining games though could end up on the same points as Peterborough United who are currently in 6th position and in a play-off spot. Although that is a target well out of reach for this Bradford City side who purely need to concentrate on staying in this division for next seasons challenge.

Rotherham United Team News:

This Rotherham United side have done extremely well this season with goals coming from all over the park. The clubs top scorer is Kieran Agard who has so far scored seventeen league goals this season and has also featured in all of Rotherham’s league games so far. The clubs other three strikers have also pulled their own weight having scored fifteen between them so far.

Bradford City Team News:

Youngster Jon McLaughlan is set to start yet another game between the posts this Friday and has so far played in every League One game this season. Scoring has been hit and miss this season for Bradford Cit although the clubs top scorer, James Hanson has still done well with scoring twelve goals in thirty four matches. Veteran midfielder Gary Jones has scored half that number and played very well in could be his last season if he does indeed decide to hang up his boots.

In total though we have seen these two sides meet 30 times in the past where Rotherham United still come out winners with 15 wins over Bradford City’s 10. There has also been 5 draws with 4 of those at the New York Stadium.

Rotherham United v Bradford City Recent Form (Left to Right)

Rotherham United: W W W W L

Bradford City: L L W D L

With only fifteen points left up for grabs I cannot see Rotherham United breaking into the top two for automatic promotion, although they are only one point away from an automatic play-off position so could win promotion that way. They are in fine form even though they did lose their last league one game which was against Sheffield United.

Rotherham United v Bradford City Match Betting Odds Market

Rotherham United are as expected the bookmakers favourites to win this game, although they did lose to a mid-table team the other week. The best odds are currently seen here @ 4/6 with Coral – Receive £50 Free Bets when Registering a New Account.

The Draw is an option I am not feeling will happen, looking at the head to head statistics we can see it is a result rarely seen between these two clubs. The bookmakers have set the best odds here @ 16/5 with Bet365 – £200 Free Bets For New Customers Registering an Account.

Bradford City are of course always giving a chance here with odds reflecting their chances of that result. Its not an ending I see happening and bookmakers have been rather tight here with them obviously giving the away side far too much of a chance to win this match. Best odds found here @ 5/1 with Bet365 – £200 Free Bets For New Customers Registering an Account.

Rotherham United v Bradford City Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

If you love football and often watch the lower leagues then this will be a good one for you. It will be a late game shown on Sky Sports 2 HD and will feature Rotherham United who are in great form this season and look to secure that remaining point needed to guarantee a play off position as they bid to book their place into the Championships for next season.

Rotherham United maybe just nine points away from an automatic promotion place but only have fifteen points left that are up for grabs. It would require Brentford to end their season in very bad form and pick up hardly anything in their remaining games. So I feel a third place finish for Rotherham United is well within their grasp even though they do have Leyton Orient and Preston North End breathing close down their necks in regards to the points counter.

My predictions for this Fridays game does favour the home side here who I feel will continue their dominance against this Bradford City team who haven’t beat them since 2011 when both sides were fighting it out in League Two. So I plan to go for a Rotherham United win and Kieran Agard goal anytime during the match. The other option I am going for is a total goals market of exactly 2 – 3 scored on the night.
