Bayern Munich v Arsenal Preview, Champions League, Tuesday 11th March 2014

Bayern Munich showed Arsenal just why they are the best tam in Europe right now with a 2 – 0 head start after the first leg at The Emirates. Arsenal did hole their own against the current European Champions for nearly an hour until Manchester United target Toni Kroos scored after an assist from Philipp Lahm. Lahm was at it once again when he setup Thomas Muller to score the second which has surely now placed the chances of Arsenal qualifying to almost zero.

Arsene Wenger still believes his Arsenal side have a chance Tuesday night when they face Bayern Munich on their own turf in Germany. After going down to two goals in England the Premiership title hopefuls will need a miracle to progress into the quarter finals. Arsenal do head into this match on the back of a convincing win over Everton in the FA Cup at the weekend which would of raised their confidence after losing to Stoke City the week before.

Bayern Munich Team News:

No injury reports coming in for the Bundesliga and European Champions which will be great news for Pep Guardiola is is completely dominating in all competitions since taking over this season. The clubs top goal scorer Mandzukic should be set to start on Tuesday accompanied by Thomas Muller who scored in the first leg at Arsenal.

Arsenal Team News:

Arsene Wenger has some serious worries in regards to injuries right now with the more recent being Jack Wilshere who went off in England’s recent international against Denmark with an ankle issue. Ramsey (thigh) and Kallstrom (back) are due back very soon and have a very small chance of being available for tomorrow nights game. Diaby and Theo Walcott are both long term with crucial knee ligament damage.

Bayern Munich v Arsenal Head to Head Statistics

In the last 5 head to head statistics Bayern Munich just come out winners with the 3 wins and 2 loses. In total we have seen these two sides meet 7 times in the past with the Bundesliga Champions winning 4 to Arsenal’s 2. Arsenal have only ever won once away from home which was last year with a 2 – 0 win.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

In these 7 games played in the past we have seen a total of 18 goals scored which is giving us an average of 2.57 goals per game which is about right considering the last few years. Arsenal will need to play a blinder on Tuesday if they wish to progress so will need to go full out and attack which will open up the game completely for counter attacks, which in turn could equal a lot of goals.

Bayern Munich v Arsenal Recent Form (Left to Right)

Bayern Munich: W W W W W

Arsenal: W L W L W

Bayern Munich haven’t lost in thirteen competitive matches and have won all. Their last defeat in a competitive match was against Manchester City in the Champions League back in December. Their form is incredible and it will take an absolute miracle by Arsenal to come out winners here.

Bayern Munich v Arsenal Match Betting Odds Market

Bayern Munich will be clear favourites on Tuesday with having a two goal advantage so could sit back if they wished. But that’s not their way so I can imagine the Germans going full out to finish Arsenal off. The bookmakers best odds are coming in @ 1/3 with Betfred Mobile – Free £10 + £25 Matches Bet For New Customers)

The Draw has only happened once in the past and is a result Arsenal cannot afford as they must go full out for the win. The bookmakers even see this result as unlikely with the best odds currently set @ 5/1 with Bet365 – £200 Free Bets For New Customers Registering an Account.

Arsenal are huge outsiders for this game with Bayern Munich only losing once here to any team this season. It was to Manchester City however but bookmakers do not see that Arsenal have what it takes to copy that feat with the best odds coming in @ 10/1 with Bet365 – £200 Free Bets For New Customers Registering an Account.

Bayern Munich v Arsenal Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

This game on Tuesday night should see two sides go full out and attack each other as Arsene Wenger’s side can only progress with 3 goals on the night if they wish to avoid extra time. Bayern Munich rarely lose at home and have only managed to do so once this season in a competitive match which was to Manchester City in the Champions League group stage.

Pep Guardiola runs a tight ship at Bayern Munich and has excelled in his first year in charge of the Bundesliga and currently Champions League winners. With being twenty points clear at this stage and only losing once this season to Man City it is incredible to see the Germans have won twenty two of their twenty four league games with the other ending in draws.

As for my predictions for Tuesday nights Champions League game in Germany I feel it can only go in one direction. I personally do not see Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal repeating the incredible result like what Manchester City got. Although that 3 – 2 result wouldn’t be enough for Arsenal this time round. A two goal mounting to climb will be a huge task and to score three while conceding none against such a strike force is close to impossible. I am going for both teams to score on the night and for Bayern Munich to win the game. The other I am looking at is a total match goals of 2 – 3.
