Hull City v Chelsea Preview, Premiership, Saturday 11th January 2014

It has been a productive season so far for all Hull City fans as their side currently occupy 10th position in the league table and with just two defeats at home and only six goals conceded from ten matches played everyone involved at the club will be confident of getting at least something from this game on Saturday afternoon.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has seemingly changed his mind of his sides chances of winning the Premiership league title this season after seeing his side move up into 3rd place of the league table and just 2pts behind current league leaders Arsenal and having already beaten Hull City 2-0 at Stamford Bridge earlier back in August, the players and fans will see this game as another 3pts for the taking.

Hull City Team News:

Joe Dudgeon and Sone Aluko are the only two players unavailable for the hosts for this game as they continue to receive treatment for respective injury problems. Matty Fryatt has a slight hamstring pull, but is expected to pass a late fitness test and be involved in the squad.

Manager Steve Bruce will probably go with a 4-5-1 formation for this game having seen it work so well at home last time out in the 6-0 thrashing of Fulham and should see either Sagbo or Brady leading the attack up front with support in behind coming from Boyd, Livermore, Huddlestone, Koren and Elmohamady.

Striker Robert Brady is the clubs current top goalscorer this season with 3.

Chelsea Team News:

Branislav Ivanovic, Tomas Kalas, Frank Lampard and Marco van Ginkel are all unavailable for the visitors as they continue to receive treatment for respective injury problems. Manager Jose Mourinho is likely to go with a 4-2-3-1 formation for this game which will see Fernando Torres leading the attack up front with support from midfield being provided by Schurrle, Hazard, Oscar, Mikel and Ramires.

Midfielder Eden Hazard is the clubs current top goalscorer this season with 8.

Hull City v Chelsea Match Betting Odds Market

Hull City have pulled off some shock victories at the KC Stadium this season and are certainly not without a chance of causing yet another giant killing act on Saturday afternoon, but the online bookmakers don’t seem to agree and currently have the hosts priced up at a best price of 11/2 with Sky Bet (£30 Free Bets for New Customers) which does seem a bit on the large side considering their form at home.

The Draw is currently on offer at a best price of 3/1 with BetVictor (£25 Free Bets for New Customers) and is definitely worth getting on as your main cover bet here as Hull City don’t concede many goals at home and this looks decent value for a game that is far from a one-sided affair.

Chelsea are in excellent form of late and their fans and players will expect to win this game on Saturday afternoon, so no real surprise to see the online bookmakers having Jose Mourinho’s side priced up as the clear favourites to win this game at a current best price of 8/13 with Coral (£50 Free Bets for New Customers).

Hull City v Chelsea Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

I’m not sure this game is going to be such a one sided affair as the online bookmakers odds seem to suggest as although Chelsea will be expected to win this game on Saturday afternoon and have a squad of world class individuals, I have been quite impressed with the way Hull City have played this season, especially at the KC Stadium and the statistics say it all for me as Steve Bruce’s side have only lost twice at home and conceded just six goals from their ten matches played.

I can certainly see Hull City scoring in this game and although I can also see Chelsea grabbing one, as to who is going to score the important third goal which in my opinion will win the game is anyone’s guess and the sensible option here does seem to be the goals market as with the average goals per game statistics suggesting this game to see at least a couple of goals scored, I would expect the game to finish something like 1-1 or 2-1 either way on the day.
