Peterborough United v West Bromwich Albion Preview, FA Cup 4th Round Replay, Wednesday 10th February 2016.

It’s FA Cup heaven for League One side Peterborough United who forced Premiership side West Bromwich Albion into a replay now played away from home. It was a surprising result for Peterborough who although sit in eighth position have not been in the best of form in recent weeks with two loses, a draw and a better result with a win in their last five fixtures in all competitions. The game at West Bromwich Albion home ground did see Peterborough losing the game until eleven minutes from time when Shaquile Coulthirst earned his side an equalizer. The game then went on to see two further goals in such a short time with West Brom taking the lead again five minutes later only to then lose that lead sixty seconds later when Jon Taylor earned a 4th round replay.

In the last five games played in all competitions we see West Bromwich Albion struggling for results having only earned a point against bottom side Aston Villa and sixteenth placed Swansea City, two games they really should of won. The only game they have won in the last five fixtures was an away win in the 3rd Round of the FA Cup when they visited the East coast to face Bristol City. The 4th round however they should of done better yet come up short against lesser opponents Peterborough who ply their trade a league lower in League One. The weekend didn’t go to plan either when the club traveled to Newcastle United and came away empty handed having lost 1 – 0. They have to face some tough opponents soon with Crystal Palace, top side Leicester City and Manchester United.

 Peterborough United Team News:

West Brom need to be careful against Peterborough who are the Leagues second highest goalscorers currently, yet the side must also make some changes for Wednesdays replay. Gabriel Zakuani could be back in action after recovering from his injury while Jack Baldwin is fifty fifty for the game. Defenders Smith and Ricardo Santos are suspended while Marcus Maddison is available against after an illness.

West Bromwich Albion Team News:

West Bromwich Albion have been missing a number of first teamers lately with Jonny Evans a major doubt due to his hamstring. Saturdays fixture against Newcastle United spelt disaster for West Brom with Jonas Olsson (hamstring), Craig Dawson (ankle) and Gareth McAuley (thigh) all getting injured. On top of that they are also missing James Morrison (hamstring), Chris Brunt (calf) and Callum McManaman (ankle) all out.

Peterborough United v West Bromwich Albion Head to Head Statistics:

In the last five head to head encounters it has been West Bromwich Albion who are the better side, having won three and drawn the two. The sides have only met on nine occasions with Peterborough United only winning the once way back in 1994 at their home ground. The Premiership club have won six of the fixtures meaning the remaining two games have ended as draws of some sort.

West Bromwich Albion: L D D D W

In the last five games played by both clubs it is West Bromwich Albion who just come out on top with that extra draw over the loss that League One side Peterborough have had. Premiership side West Bromwich Albion are the favourites and surely will come away victors as expected of them come Wednesday night.

Peterborough United v West Bromwich Albion Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

FA Cup 4th Round Replay action on Wednesday night comes live on BBC One High Definition with Premiership club West Bromwich Albion traveling to League One side Peterborough United in homes of a 5th round tie against Championship side Reading later in February. To be honest either side here if they did get through I wouldn’t fancy their chances against Reading away from home considering the form they are both in. I can see Peterborough United struggling in this home tie on Wednesday night, especially with the number of first team players missing from the selection process. Even though they did manage their first win in the last five games on Saturday against Chesterfield.

West Bromwich Albion head into this game on the back of a loss against Newcastle United and if they seriously don’t win this they you can’t help but question the quality of the side and their chances of Premiership survival come the end of the season. The club are currently just six points outside of the relegation zone with Norwich City the current club taking up that eighteenth place spot. They have some tough opponents coming up with Everton and Crystal Palace the clubs best chances of earning some points. Premier League leaders Leicester City host West Brom after that and are clearly favourites for that game with them more and more looking like a club who could shock the world and win the Premiership. Manchester United are the last of the five fixtures and with the form United seem to be gathering you could see West Brom losing that as well.

My predictions for this game does see West Bromwich Albion come out as winners in the end, but just how they do that I am not 100%. That said if the Premiership club do win I do feel it will only be by one goal, so for my banker West Bromwich Albion to win the game by a 1 one goal margin.
