Swansea City v Hull City Preview, Premier League, Monday 9th December 2013

Swansea will be looking to continue where they left off last week when beating Newcastle United 3-0 at the Liberty Stadium and will look at this fixture against struggling Hull City as one they can definitely win, but with doubts over both Wilfred Bony and Michu, one would think that manager Michael Laudrup would need both of these players involved if they are to continue winning ways.

Hull City were defeated 2-0 away at the Emirates Stadium against current league leaders Arsenal last week, but they played well for a large majority of that game and if they can put in a similar performance on monday night at the Liberty Stadium they are certainly not without their own chances of winning this game, especially if the hosts are without both of their main strikers.

Swansea City Team News:

Angel Rangel, Alan Tate, Garry Monk and Alvaro Vazquez Garcia are all ruled out for the hosts as each player continues to receive treatment for respective injury related problems. Michu and Wilfred Bony are also doubts, but will both under take a late fitness test to see if either of them can be involved.

4-3-3 looks the likely formation that manager Michael Laudrup will deploy for this game which will see Michu, Bony and Dyer leading the attack up front with support in midfield being provided by Shelvey, de Guzman and Canas.

Striker Wilfred Bony is the clubs current top goalscorer this season with 4.

Hull City Team News:

Stephen Quinn and Sone Aluko are the only two players missing for the visitors as they continue to recover from respective injuries. Paul McShane is a major doubt as he continues to struggle with hamstring injury and is also unlikely to feature.

3-5-2 looks the likely formation that manager Steve Bruce will go with for this one which will see Danny Graham and Sagbo leading the attack up front with support in behind coming from Elmohamady, Livermore, Huddlestone, Meyler and Brady.

Striker Robert Brady is the clubs current top goalscorer this season with 3.

Swansea City v Hull City Head to Head Statistics:

Monday night’s game from The Liberty Stadium will become the 24th meeting between the two clubs over the years, of which Swansea City have won 10 times, Hull City have won 6 times with the remaining 7 games having finished all square.

The previous 5 games played between the two clubs show Hull City with a clear advantage winning 3 times with Swansea City managing 1 win and the remaining game ending in a draw.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

52 goals have been scored in the previous 23 games played between the two clubs which provides us with an average goals per game statistic of 2.26 which suggests that this game should only see maybe one or two goals scored on Monday night.

Swansea City v Hull City Recent Form (Left to Right)

Swansea City: D W L L W

Hull City: W L L W L

Neither side has any real advantage on the recent form satistics, with both clubs having managed just 2 wins from their last 5 matches played. However, Swansea City have only lost 2 of their last 5 played, where as Hull City have lost 3 of their last 5.

Swansea City v Hull City Match Betting Odds Market

Swansea City are the clear odds on favourites to win this game on Monday night with a best price of just 3/4 with Paddy Power (£50 Free Bets for New Customers) currently on offer.

The Draw has only happened once in the previous 5 meetings, but they were played a few years ago and with both sides having now improved their squads and both struggling to win on a regular basis the Draw does look decent value here at odds of 11/4 with BetVictor (£25 Free Bets for New Customers).

Hull City are not expected to win this game as their current odds of 9/2 with Bet365 (£200 Free Bets for New Customers) clearly indicate, but they are certainly not without a chance and do have a much better head to head record over their hosts.

Swansea City v Hull City Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

A difficult game to be confident of calling a clear winner in my opinion as a lot will depend on the fitness of both Wilfred Bony and Michu if Swansea City are going to win this game.

Hull City have a decent record against Swansea City over the years as the head to head statistics show, but those matches did come a while back and with both clubs having improved their squads significantly this should be a very different game indeed.

The goal stats suggest maybe just one or two goals to be scored here, so betting markets like Both Teams to Score NO, Under 2.5 Goals and Total Match Goals 2 or 3 could be the sensible plays here in what looks like being a very close, hard fought match that on the night could really go either way.
