Norwich City v West Ham Preview, Premiership, Saturday 9th November 2013

Norwich City manager Chris Hughton has a tough job on his hands right now with having to bring his sides bad start to the Premier League around as they are in serious need of confidence and points. Although they only face West Ham who are only 2 points above them it is the London club who are in better form right now and Hughton knows his side need to dig deep if they are to grab a win at Carrow Road on Saturday evening.

Saturdays game against Norwich City is a crucial match for West Ham manager Sam Allardyce as he see’s both home and away matches against Norwich as a six-pointer. Bold words here as West Ham are a little goal shy right now having only scored 8 goals in 10 matches. Slightly better news is they have only conceded 8 goals which is the same as Chelsea who sit 13 places above them in the Premier League table.

Norwich City v West Ham Team News

Norwich City Team News:

Norwich City are still without 27 year old Alexander Tettey who has so far playing in 7 of Norwich City’s games with having started 5. But right now he is out with an ankle injury in which he picked up against Cardiff City at Carrow Road at the end of October. Norwich are also without defender Bennett who has a knee injury and has played 2 games so far this season.

West Ham Team News:

With West Ham having serious striker issues you would have to ask yourself where their goals will be coming from. As they await the return of Andy Carroll which is expected to be at the end of this month they really are struggling as Vaz Te’ is now injured after dislocating his shoulder at the end of last month.

Norwich City v West Ham Head to Head Statistics

Norwich City haven’t beaten West Ham United since 1994 and then before that when it seems they were the more dominant team when facing West Ham. But since then it has been the London club who have dominated the results between these two sides as The Hammers have spent more time in the Premiership in recent years than Norwich City.

01/01/13 PRL West Ham – Norwich City 2 : 1
15/09/12 PRL Norwich City – West Ham 0 : 0
06/01/06 FAC Norwich City – West Ham 1 : 2
07/01/05 FAC West Ham – Norwich City 1 : 0
20/02/04 CHA Norwich City – West Ham 1 : 1

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

Sadly only 9 goals have been scored in the last 5 head to head matches which gives us a rather low average of 1.8 goals per game. But with Norwich City conceding a lot of goals recently we could see West Ham capitalize on that stat and really go for more goals come Saturday.

Norwich City v West Ham Recent Form (Left to Right)

Norwich City: L L D L L

West Ham: D W D L W

West Ham are in far better form right now and were lucky not to get a win against Aston Villa at the weekend which would of made their form look even better with just the one loss in the last five games. Norwich City however have been on the receiving end of some serious beatings in recent weeks including the 7 – 0 hammering by Manchester City.

Norwich City v West Ham Match Betting Odds Market.

Norwich City although not favourites for this match are still considered hopefuls to win this match by bookmakers, with the best odds found here @ 6/4 with Betfred – £50 Free Bets For New Customers Registering an Account.

The Draw could be an option here as both teams struggle to find the net lately, with the current odds @ 23/10 with Ladbrokes – £30 Free Bets when Registering a New Account.

West Ham are the favourites here and the better side, but without any strikers are they going to find the net come Saturday? Who knows, but the best odds are found here @ 2/1 with BetVictor – £25 Free Bets For New Customers Registering an Account.

Norwich City v West Ham Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

Well this is a tough prediction in regards to any correct score guesses, but you could quite easily go for any of the low scoring results or even a goalless draw come Saturday evening. But for me personally I can see this being a 1 – 1 draw all day long, as we have both teams struggling to score goals and with looking at the history we are only getting a goals per game average of 1.8. Which giving the circumstances with the lack of fit strikers at West Ham and the fact that Norwich City are also struggling to find the net it could be well worth your money.

My other prediction comes in the form of an Over/Under bet as I look at the Under 1.5 goals odds which are pretty decent right now at most bookmakers.
