Arsenal v West Ham United Preview, Premiership, Sunday 09th August 2015

Arsenal will be brimming with confidence as they prepare to take on West Ham United at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon after their excellent display against Chelsea in the FA Community Shield last weekend where they beat the current defending Premiership champions 1-0.

Despite not having star man Alexis Sanchez available, Arsene Wengers side looked as good as ever and a well taken strike by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was enough to secure Arsenal back to back FA Community Shield Trophies and with Arsenal also having an excellent pre-season where they won every game and conceded just one goal, things are looking very good for Arsenal football club at the moment.

West Ham United have already been knocked out of the Europa League having lost 4-3 on aggregate against Romanian side Astra Giurgiu and new manager Slaven Bilic will not be a happy man at all especially with his squad currently very short on attacking players due to injuries and he really does face a daunting task on Sunday afternoon.

The fans were far from amused to see their manager gamble with a weakened side in the second leg of that Europa League tie and when it back fired and West Ham were dumped out of the tournament, the fans were already discussing that maybe Bilic is not the right man for the job and a defeat in this game against Arsenal will only add fuel to the fire.

Arsenal Team News:

Arsene Wenger has almost a full squad available for this game but will be missing Jack Wilshere, Danny Welbeck and Rosicky. Alexis Sanchez is struggling with a bit of match fitness, but I would expect him to be involved at some point during this game.

Oliver Giroud is likely to lead the attack up front with support in behind being provided by Carzola, Oxland-Chamberlain and either Walcott or Sanchez.

West Ham United Team News:

Slaven Bilic will be without Andy Carroll and Valencia with both players not expected to return back to the squad until at least October. Obiang, O’Brien and Reid are all doubts for the visitors and Jenkinson is ineligible due to his loan terms.

New signing Dimitri Payet shone in an exciting Marseille side last season to the extent that his 135 chances created was the most of any player in any of the top five European leagues and big things are expected from his this season.

Arsenal v West Ham United Head to Head Statistics:

Sunday afternoon’s game from the Emirates Stadium will become the 116th meeting between the two clubs over the years, of which Arsenal have won 56 with 31 of those having came with home advantage where as West Ham have managed 27 victories, with just 13 of those having came away from home.

The previous 5 meetings below in our head to head statistics show Arsenal having a commanding advantage over their hosts having won all the previous five matches played.

14/03/15 PRL Arsenal v West Ham United 3 : 0
28/02/14 PRL West Ham United v Arsenal 1 : 2
15/04/14 PRL Arsenal v West Ham United 3 : 1
26/12/13 PRL West Ham United v Arsenal 1 : 3

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

321 Goals have been scored in the previous 115 meetings between the two clubs and this provides us with an overall average goals per game statistic of 2.79.

160 of those Goals have came in the 57 previous matches played at the Emirates Stadium and this generates us an average goal scoring statistic of 2.80.

Based on both sets of data shown above, it does seem to indicate that this game should see a minimum of at least two goals scored and although West Ham United have scored in four of their last five meetings against Arsenal, it’s difficult to see them getting on the score-sheet on Sunday afternoon as they really are struggling to field any fit strikers.

Arsenal v West Ham United Match Betting Odds Market

Arsenal are the clear odds on favourites to win this game on Sunday afternoon with the current best price available of just 1/3 with BetVictor – £50 Free Bets for New Customers.

The Draw has happened only once in the previous eleven meetings between the two clubs over recent seasons and does look an unlikely outcome here and is a current best price of 5/1 with Bet365 – £200 Matched Bonus Bets for New Customers.

West Ham United have it all do do here and the confidence within the squad is obviously going to be suffering after their embarassing exit from the Europa League, so no real surprise to see the visitors priced up at current best odds of 11/1 with Betfred – Bet £10 & Receive £30 Free Bets for New Customers.

Arsenal v West Ham United Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

Arsenal have had a great pre-season and with also having added another FA Community Shield Trophy to their honours I can only see a comfortable Arsenal victory in this game, especially with West Ham United having hardly any fit strikers available in their squad.

West Ham United will probably still be in a bit of shock of having been eliminated so early from the Europa League tournament having lost 4-3 on aggregate against relatively unknown side Astra Giurgiu and with their star player Diafra Sakho having already seen Red in the 4-0 victory against FC Lusitans in an earlier Europa League qualifier after being sent off after just 14mins of that game really doesn’t look like he believes his future is with West Ham United.

Arsenal hammered West Ham United 3-0 last season at the Emirates and with what I have seen from both clubs during their pre-season matches I can only see a similar result here on Sunday afternoon and so my Banker Prediction for this match is going to be for Arsenal Half Time/Full Time as I really can’t see West Ham United having the necessary fire power up front to trouble such a well organised Arsenal defence.

My First Goal Scorer Prediction is going to be for Oliver Giroud to score the first goal of the match as with the striker having been left out of the starting lineup in the FA Community Shield victory against Chelsea last week, he will certainly feel that he has a point to prove to his manager.
