Crystal Palace v Manchester United Preview, Premiership, Saturday 9th May 2015

Crystal Palace will be looking to bounce back to winning ways in this game on Saturday evening at Selhurst Park in front of their home fans as Alan Pardew’s side have suffered three defeats from their last three games and although they do look very unlikely to be relegated, mathematically speaking they could still get caught if they were to lose their final three matches and Sunderland were to win theirs and score plenty of goals.

Manchester United also head into this game having lost their last three matches played and the importance of winning this game has no become paramount what with Liverpool right on their heels in 5th place and just 4pts behind and the race for that final Champions League spot is definitely still not guaranteed for Louis Van Gaal’s side.

Crystal Palace v Manchester United Team News:

Crystal Palace Team News:

Fraizer Campbell and Marouane Chamakh continue to receive treatment for hamstring problems and remain unavailable for the hosts, other than those two players though, Alan Pardew has a full squad available to choose his starting lineup from and will likely include Bolasie and Mutch leading the attack up front.

Manchester United Team News:

Michael Carrick will miss the final few games of the season with a calf problem and both Jonny Evans and Rafael will undertake a late fitness test to see if either of them can be involved having missed the defeat last weekend against West Brom. Luke Shaw and Marcos Rojo are both suffering from injuries and look unlikely to feature.

Wayne Rooney could be preffered as the sole striker up front with Fellaini providing the support in behind as it does seem that Robin Van Persie could be on his way out of the club come the end of the season along with Falcao.

Crystal Palace v Manchester United Head to Head Statistics:

Saturday evening’s game from Selhurst Park will become the 32nd meeting between the two clubs over the years of which Crystal Palace have won 6 times with 3 having came with home advantage and Manchester United have won 19 times with 7 of those wins having came at Selhurst Park.

As we can see in our head to head statistics table below which shows the last five meetings between the two clubs over recent season’s it has been Manchester United who have enjoyed the better results having won three times with Crystal Palace only having managed to win one with the remaining game finishing all square.

Crystal Palace v Manchester United Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

Palace are relatively safe at the moment as it really would take a miracle for Sunderland to catch them, let alone reduce the goal deficit in their favour so I can’t really see the Palace players or manager worrying too much if they were to lose this game.

However, Manchester United really do need to win this match as with Liverpool right behind them in the chase for the final UEFA Champions League position for next season, if United were to lose this game and Liverpool win theirs, then it would only be a matter of 2pts between them with two games to go and I can’t see manager Louis Van Gaa’l being to happy about that.

As such I would expect to see Wayne Rooney to return back up front as the sole striker with players like Mata, Fellaini and Young providing the support as their last three defeats have came with Rooney having had to play in various different places in the middle of the park and the United goal threat has not been anywhere near as good as it was when Rooney was leading the attack.

The average goals per game statistics are expecting this match to see at least a couple of goals scored and personally I am expecting something along the lines of a 2 goal victory for Manchester United in either a 2-0 or 3-1 final score line.

My Banker Prediction for this game is going to be for Manchester United to Win as they do look great value at their current odds available from Coral and I fully expect the players to know the importance of winning this game if they are to be playing Champions League football next season.

My Saver is going to be for Both Teams to Score & United to Win as although I expect United to win this game by at least two goals, I do think that Palace might be able to score one as they are playing in front of their home fans and have had a decent record at Selhurst Park this season.
