Manchester United v Arsenal Preview, FA Cup Quarter Final, Monday 9th March 2015

Manchester United face a difficult task on Monday night when they play host to Arsenal in this FA Cup Quarter Final affair, but Louis Van Gaal’s side are playing well at the moment and head into this game having only lost once in their last ten matches.

Arsenal are also playing some excellent football as well at the moment and have lost just twice in their previous twelve matches, one being a 2-1 defeat away to arch rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the league and the other being a shock 3-1 defeat at home against Monaco in the Champions League.

However, Arsene Wengers side head into this game having won both of their previous two matches like their hosts and the stage is certainly set for a very entertaining game.

Manchester United Team News:

Robin Van Persie is definitely ruled out for this one as he continue to receive treatment for an ankle injury and Jonny Evans could also miss out if the FA decide to charge him with spitting at Newcastle United Papiss Cisse.

Luke Shaw is still not 100% as he struggled with a hamstring and will under take a late fitness test to see if he can be involved. Wayne Rooney will lead the attack up front for the visitors alongside Radamel Falcao.

Arsenal Team News:

Gabriel, Jack Wilshere, Mikel Arteta, Abou Diaby and Mathieu Debuchy are all ruled out for this one as they continue to receive treatment for respective injury related problems. Goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, defender Nacho Monreal and Mathieu Flamini will all under take a late fitness test to see if any of them can be involved.

Oliver Giroud will lead the attack up alongside Danny Welbeck with support in behind being provided by Alexis Sanchez.

Manchester United v Arsenal Head to Head Statistics:

Monday night’s game from Old Trafford will become the 179th meeting over the years. Manchester United have won 77 times with 53 having came at home, whilst Arsenal have won 60 times with just 14 having came at Old Trafford.

As we can see from our head to head statistics table below it has been Manchester United who have dominated recent proceedings having won 3 times with Arsenal having won none and the remaining 2 games having finished all square.

Nothing to separate the two sides on the recent form statistics, so don’t be too surprised to see this one end up all square come the full time whistle as both clubs are in relatively good form at the moment.

Manchester United v Arsenal Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

There can be no doubt that this will be a very tight and exciting game and very difficult to be confident in choosing a clear winner as there is certainly arguments to be made for both clubs chances here to book their place into the next round of the tournament.

Based on the overall head to head statistics, everything does seem to suggest Manchester United being the ones to advance through to the Semi Finals of the tournament as they do have a very good record against Arsenal overall and even more so at Old Trafford, so I can definitely see plenty of people taking their current odds available from BetVictor as they do look value considering those statistics.

However, Arsenal are playing some good stuff this season and although they do have a few injury concerns to some of their first team players, their squad is still strong enough to win this game in my opinion and it will depend on how well the United defence is able to cope with the likes of Giroud, Sanchez and Welbeck.

The recent form statistics have this down as a nailed on Draw and this also looks good value at the current odds available from SkyBet, but for me the stand out bet does seem to be Both Teams to Score as both sides have players that are in great goalscoring form and can find the net from pretty much anywhere in and around the box and as such this is my Banker selection for this game.

My Saver is going to be for Wayne Rooney to continue his goalscoring form up front as he does look a much better player leading the attack rather than sitting deep and acting like a playmaker and he will certainly get plenty chances to add another goal to his already impressive goalscoring record in this tournament.
