Sevilla v Barcelona Preview, Primera La Liga, Sunday 9th February 2014

Sevilla haven’t had the best of luck with their own attempt for a push at that 4th final position recently due to two loses and 2 draws in the last 5 games. Their last victory was at home to Getafe at the beginning of January and I can’t see this weekend being their chance to add another. Sevilla are twelve points off current 4th place holders Athletic Bilbao if their last 4 results would of ended with wins would of been so much closer and be sitting just two points behind.

Barcelona fell foul to a shock defeat last week in the La Liga as visitors Valencia arrived and completely took the crowd off its feet in 3 – 2 win . Alexis Sanchez started the game with a quick 7th minute goals from a Lionel Messi assist and it was just before half time where Valencia then equalized. Straight from the off Dani Parejo put Valencia into the lead for the first time but it was only for six minutes when Messi leveled from the spot. But it wasn’t enough from the home side as Alcacer put Valencia in front once more until the 90 minutes were up.

Barcelona have three injuries worries with the first being Brazilian wonderkid Neymar who has suffered a sprained ankle in recent weeks. The next is local player Oier who has an injured hand then the next being Italian long term injury Jonathan dos Santos who i out with crucial knee ligaments. Sevilla v Barcelona Recent Form (Left to Right)

Sevilla: L L D D W

Barcelona: W L W W W

Barcelona let slip recently in the Primera with a shock loss to visitors Valencia. This allowed the title chase to open up with Atletico Madrid now leading the race by 3 points. Regardless of that poor result Barcelona are still in exceptional form right now and soon bounced back with a win over Real Sociedad in the Cope del Rey 1st leg.

Sevilla v Barcelona Preview Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

Barcelona may of slipped up against Valencia last week but they will know that another league loss could surrender their hard earned title to current leaders Atletico Madrid who are now three points clear of the Spanish La Liga Champions. Not only that but other title chasers Real Madrid now sit level on points with Barcelona who who will crack under the pressure first only you can guess.

Taking into account that in the last 13 games Barcelona have beaten Sevilla ten times and drawn 3 which should tell you just how dominant the champions have been over the last 5 or more years. Not only that but Barcelona haven’t lost at the Sevilla ground since 2007 where Dani Alves grabbed the winner when playing for Sevilla.

So lets get down to some predictions for Sundays Spanish game. I personally see a Barcelona comfortable win as they cannot afford to lose another. So I plan to go for a Barcelona win with Messi to score which may not give the best of odds but at least you know it has a solid chance of coming in. The other I am going for is a total match goal count of 2 – 3 over the ninety minutes.
