Aston Villa v Manchester City Preview, Premiership, Sunday 8th November 2015

Aston Villa head into this game having had a terrible start to their new season, not only have they parted ways with manager Tim Sherwood, their new manager that got appointed recently Remi Garde watched from the stands as his new side were comfortably beaten 3-1 by Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.

Villa fans have already probably admitted to themselves that it is going to be a huge battle for their club to avoid relegation this season as with just 4pts picked up from eleven matches played, it does seem like only a miracle can save Aston Villa from relegation.

Manchester City head into the game currently leading the way at the top of the premiership league table on 25pts picked up from their eleven matches played and despite their star striker Sergio Aguero having not been involved recently due to injury, Manuel Pellegrini’s side are still getting the job done.

City were 3-1 winners in their tough looking away trip against Sevilla midweek and that result will surely have provided all the players with confidence as they prepare for this game on Sunday afternoon and for me the visitors should win this game with ease, even without a certain Mr Sergio Aguero.

Aston Villa Team News:

The hosts have no confirmed players missing from their squad for this game, but will give late fitness tests to Micah Richards, Ashley Westwood and Gabriel Agbonlahor who have all been suffering from minor injury related problems recently.

Manchester City Team News:

The visitors will still be without Pablo Zabaleta (knee), Samir Nasri (hamstring) and Sergio Aguero (hamstring) for this game, but David Silva has returned back to training after recovering from an ankle problem, but is unlikely to feature in this game.

Aston Villa v Manchester City Head to Head Statistics:

Sunday afternoon’s game from Villa Park will become the 151st meeting between the two clubs over the years. Aston Villa have won 49 times overall, with 34 of those having come with home advantage where as Manchester City have won 63 times overall, 17 of those having came away from home.

The previous 5 meetings below in our head to head statistics table show Manchester City having a clear advantage having won 4 times compared to Aston Villa having only managed to win just the 1.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

457 Goals have been scored in the previous 150 meetings between the two clubs and this provides us with an overall average goals per game statistic of 3.05.

205 of those Goals have came in the 74 previous matches played at the Britannia Stadium and this generates us an average goal scoring statistic of 2.77.

Based on both sets of data shown above, it does seem to indicate that this game should see a minimum of between two or three goals scored and betting markets like Total Match Goals 2 or 3 and Over 2.5 Goals look the mostly likely outcomes on the goals market betting.

Aston Villa v Manchester City Match Betting Odds Market

Aston Villa will not be looking forward to this game one bit come Sunday afternoon as they could end up receiving a bit of a hiding from the current premier league leaders and the online bookmakers seem to agree which is reflected by their current best price of 7/1 with BetVictor – Receive £50 Free Bets For New Customers.

The Draw has not happened once in the last five meetings, in fact you have to go back 14 matches to the 5th October 2009 to find the last draw between the two clubs so this doesn’t look a very likely outcome which is again reflected by the online bookmakers best odds of 4/1 with Bet365 – £200 Matched Bonus Bets for New Customers.

Manchester City are firing on all cylinders at the moment and I fully expect them to win this game very easily at the weekend and despite being odds on favourites to win this match they do look value for the big hitters at current best odds of 4/9 with Betfred – Bet £10 & Receive £30 Free Bets For New Customers.

Aston Villa v Manchester City Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

Unfortunatley for Aston Villa fans it looks like being another very uncomfortable weekend as the club prepares for the visit of current league leaders Manchester City and even with a new manager appointed in the form of Remi Garde, this should be business as usual for Manuel Pellegrini’s side.

Villa just don’t look like a team that can handle premiership football at the moment and it does seem like that until some new players are brought in to steady the ship, relegation is staring them in the face, even before we get to the half way stage of the season.

City on the other hand are playing very well and as mentioned previously in this preview, they are still managing to get the job done even without their top goalscorer Sergio Aguero who is expected to return back to training towards the end of November.

Wilfried Bonny will continue to deputise up front in place of Aguero and having played well since given the chance to impress by his manager, he will obviously be one of many players that will be causing the Aston Villa defence problems this weekend.

Onto some predictions for the game then and my Banker Free Tip is going to be for Manchester City to Win Both Halves as I am expecting them to win this game by at least three goals come Sunday afternoon which should see them scoring goals in each half of the game.

My First Goalscorer Free Tip will be Manchester City striker Wilfried Bony to open the scoring in this match as although he has only managed two premier league goals this season, this game does provide him with an excellent chance to add more goals to that tally.
