Arsenal v Tottenham Hotspur Preview, Premiership, Sunday 8th November 2015.

Arsene Wenger will be looking to get his team back to winning ways this Sunday especially when they face bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspurs at home. Arsenal’s midweek fixture against Bayern Munich in the Champions League didn’t end as they had hoped with the Bundesliga Champions teach them a thing or two by hammering them 5 – 1. The result has left Arsenal with little hope of progressing into the knock out stages, as they now require Olympiakos to lose both their remaining games and also needing Arsenal to win against Dinamo Zagreb in November and then the all important away fixture to Olympiakos. Arsene Wenger also suffered a heavy loss in the Capital One Cup a week ago, when his side were dismissed by Championship club Sheffield Wednesday 3 – 0 away from home.

Tottenham Hotspurs may not be in the Champions League but they are in the Europa competition and doing well while sitting top of the group. They did lose 2 – 1 to Anderlecht last month away from home, but earned revenge when they welcomed the club to White Hart Lane this week. Spurs won the match 2 – 1 with a goal from Harry Kane and Dembele, and now only need to grab a good result against Qarabag away from home and Monaco in North London.  On paper Tottenham Hotspurs have a number of tough opponents coming up with Arsenal on Sunday being the worst. West Ham United at White Hart Lane will also be a tough fixture although Spurs will be favourites. End of this month they then play hosts to struggling Champions Chelsea, and with the way Jose Mourinho’s side is playing we should see Spurs pile on more misery.

Arsenal Team News:

Arsenal nearly have a starting eleven out missing due to injuries right now with ten important first team players all unavailable. Bellerin (groin), Koscielny (hip), Theo Walcott (calf), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (hamstring), Arteta (ankle), David Ospina (shoulder), Thomas Rosicky (knee), Aaron Ramsey (hamstring), Jack Wilshere (fibula fracture) and Danny Welbeck (knee) are all the names missing from Arsene Wengers lineup.

Tottenham Hotspur Team News:

Tottenham Hotspurs are without a number of players although nothing as bad as rivals Arsenal. Danny Rose is missing with a knock while Clinton N’Jie is nursing a hamstring. nabil Bentaleb is still out with his ankle while Nacer Chadli is out long term with ankle ligament damage. Last is Alex Pritchard who also has an injury with his ankle ligaments.

Arsenal v Tottenham Hotspur Head to Head Statistics:

In the last five meetings it is mostly Arsenal who have dominated with three wins, a loss and a draw. In total we have witnessed 163 meetings between the two famous London clubs and it is still Arsenal who are out in front with 68 wins and 51 loses. Meaning we have a remaining 44 games ending as draws. The last time Spurs won away from home against Arsenal was way back in 2010 when the game ended 3 – 2.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

In the 163 meetings between these two Premiership clubs, we have seen a total of 483 goals scored with Arsenal just out in front with 35 more. This is going to give us an average of just under 3 goals per game which is always good to know if looking to watch an exciting game. I’d say the below option is more realistic and a better reflection of the last five head to heads.

Arsenal v Tottenham Hotspur Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

Premier League action this Sunday comes to us live on Sky Sports 1 High Definition, and features two bitter rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspurs. This is one of the leagues most famous derby matches and always brings a level of expected excitement with a number of goals, tackles and potential red cards. It’s been five years since Tottenham Hotspurs have beaten Arsenal at their own ground, a result that’s only been achieved eighteen times in the past. I’m not saying it is impossible for Spurs to win here, it is just a difficult task and something Spurs need to improve on if they wish to be a top four side.

Arsenal are playing exceptionally well in the league this season and currently sit joint top of the table alongside Manchester City. Top of the league this weekend will all be decided on Sunday and to be honest it should still be Manchester City, with them traveling to Aston Villa in hope of an easy three points. Arsenal have the tougher game as Tottenham Hotspurs are certainly not a side to just lay down and let Arsenal walk all over them, and to be honest will be going full out for a win themselves which would close the gap between the two clubs to just two points, potentially leaving them in third position.

My predictions for Sundays game will certainly not be based off of a correct score guess or a potential goalscorer. I am however interested in a potential flutter with a goals scored in the match prediction. In the last five fixtures played against each other we have usually seen either two or three goals being scored, and with both clubs currently in form I could see that happening again come Sunday. The other I am going for is both teams to score and for Arsenal to earn a home win, keeping them level with Manchester City, if they themselves manage to beat Aston Villa in the lunchtime Sunday kick-off.
