Hull City v Arsenal Preview, FA Cup 5th Round Replay, Tuesday 8th March 2016.

Here we have the last FA Cup 5th round game left to play with Hull City having earned a well fought out draw at The Emirates back in February. Since then however Hull have only won the one game which was away from home to Ipswich Town and with a lack of goals being scored they have now been punished.

With a draw against Sheffield Wednesday at home hurting Hull City recently they have now dropped down into third with a game in hand, and the loss to Birmingham City on Thursday also dug deep as they now sit four points behind current leaders Burnley. Due to the lack of goals the home side will certainly not be the bookmakers favourites to win and progress into the quarter finals.

Arsenal however also have little to shout about as they continue on a bad run of form having not won a game in their last five in all competitions. They are however favourites to win this game on Tuesday night and progress into the next round to face Watford. The weekends game against Spurs did see them take the lead, only to then have to equalize late on to take a point.

In the next eleven days Arsenal have four tough games mainly due to some potentially tired legs, and although they do face Everton and West Bromwich Albion they certainly need to be wary. In this time they do also travel to Spain as they try to claw back a two goal difference after losing at home to Barcelona in the first leg.

Hull City Team News:

The home side Hull City still maintain to keep a fully fit squad and I hear could be starting Nick Powell of Manchester United and Shaun Maloney. As we know Hull City are struggling to score goals right now and have only managed to hit the right side of the netting once in their last five fixtures in all competitions.

Arsenal Team News:

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is still without goalkeeper Petr Cech and defender Laurent Koscielny who are both nursing a calf strain. Jack Wilshere (leg), Santi Cazorla (knee), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (knee) and Tomas Rosicky (thigh) are all still unavailable for selection. Also on top of this injury list Francis Coquelin is suspended after being sent off at the weekend.

Hull City v Arsenal Head to Head Statistics:

In the last five head to head encounters we do see Arsenal come out on top as expected. With three wins and two draws to their name they have failed to lose. In total we have 12 games recorded between the two clubs and sadly for Hull City they have only won the once back in 2008 when they first met. Arsenal have dominated with 9 wins and only the two draws which have been seen in the last five games played.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

In these twelve games played out between the two clubs we have seen a total of 36 goals scored, 26 of these by Arsenal, and the way Hull City are struggling to find the net I can imagine them scoring any on Tuesday night. The goals per game average is set at spot on 3 and if we do see that on Tuesday I can only imagine seeing Arsenal goals.

Hull City: L D W D D

Arsenal: D L L L D

On paper it is the Championship club Hull City who are in better form, even though there is nothing to shout about there with just the one win in the last five games. Arsenal have lost on three occasions including the 1st leg of the Champions League at home against Barcelona.

The Draw is always going to be an option here as although Hull do have issues scoring they are certainly able to keep the goals out, and the form of Arsenal right now can only aid in this result happening. Hull City v Arsenal Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

FA Cup 5th Round action on Tuesday night concludes the last of the matches of the round, with the 6th round fixtures coming up thick and fast and to be played next Sunday! The next eleven days are going to be extremely tough for Arsenal who have four games to play including Barcelona in Spain for the 2nd leg of the Champions League.

One of the four games will either be played at home against West Bromwich Albion in the Premiership, or the FA Cup 6th round against Watford and Tuesday nights result will come to determine that outcome. With the amount of games to be played by Arsene Wengers men in that time it could allow the weaker sides an advantage against tired legs.

Hull City have dropped down the table due to a lack of goals scored recently and are desperate to get back to scoring ways with only the one goal gracing the inside of the nets. They can however take pride in the fact that they are tight at the back having matched the goals scored with one the one conceded.

Due to the lack of goals scored we do see Arsenal as the favourites to win this game, if they can manage to get past the hull City back four. If Hull do go out on Tuesday night then they next face MK Dons at home and then Nottingham Forest just three days later. It will however be the game after that away to Middlesbrough which will be exciting as they both fight for an automatic promotion.

My predictions for this game are fancying a draw after ninety minutes but this is only because of Hull City’s lack of firepower coming into this match. Arsenal may be poor in form right now, but lets be realistic here they are still scoring plenty of goals. So for my first I am just going to take Arsenal to WIN the game to NIL.

The next prediction I am going to take is for a complete fluke of a result and see Hull City to qualify in any fashion. The odds are reasonable right now and although they may not be scoring goals we could potentially see a shock result on Tuesday, especially with the way things are going at Arsenal right now!
