Newcastle United v Stoke City Preview, Premiership, Sunday 8th February 2015.

Newcastle United will be hoping their last result wasn’t just luck and if anything will be the win needed to see them get back on track and start producing far better form. They traveled to Hull City and walked away 3 – 0 winners on the day and now see themselves just two points adrift Sundays opponents Stoke City. Before that positive result the club had lost three on the trot which includes their FA Cup exit to Leicester City. A win on Sunday will see them climb above Stoke City into tenth position and depending on how Swansea City do could eventually climb to ninth.

Mark Hughes side Stoke City have done extremely well in recent weeks and have won four out of their last five fixtures in all competitions. The other result was a 3 – 0 loss to Arsenal in the Premiership which has also been their hardest opponent in those five. The wins came against Wrexham, Leicester City, Rochdale and Queens Park Rangers which as you can imagine are all seen as must wins. A win on Sunday against this Newcastle United will see them climb above Swansea City depending on their result, and if anything will at least put a healthy gap between them and Newcastle United.

Newcastle United Team News:

Next we see Robert Elliot out with a thigh muscle strain, while Rolando Aarons misses out because of his hamstring. Then we have Steven Taylor still out due to his Achilles tendon.

Stoke City Team News:

Stoke City are also without four players due to injuries and first of those are Erik Pieters with a groin strain. We then see Dionatan out due to his ankle and then Peter Odemwingie still missing due to his crucial knee ligaments. Bojan is also still missing from selection with the same issue as Odemwingie.

Newcastle United v Stoke City Recent Form (Left to Right)

Newcastle United: W L L L D

Stoke City: W W W L W

Stoke City are by far the better team in winning form here with four wins and a single loss. Yet we must also remember the opposition they have faced recently with a majority of them being lower league teams in cup competitions. Newcastle United have had to play Chelsea and Southampton in which they lost to, yet should of had better results against Burnley and Leicester.

Recent Form Stats Pick: Stoke City To Win The Match @ 13/5 with BetVictor – £25 Free Bets for New Customers.

Newcastle United v Stoke City Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

Premiership action on Sunday comes to us live on Sky Sports 1 High Definition and features home side Newcastle United verses Stoke City. Both clubs are currently occupying middle of the Premiership and a win either way could see a change of position. Newcastle United do have the home advantage and are seen as the bookmakers favourites to win the game, although the form Stoke City are in we could also see a rare away win for Stoke City, with the last happening at this ground back in 2010 when it ended 2 – 1.

Stoke City are in better form with four wins and a loss in their last five games, although two of those wins were against Wrexham and Rochdale in the cup competitions. They did also been Leicester City and Queens Park Rangers in the Premiership while also losing 3 – 0 to Arsenal. Newcastle United have only won the one game in their last five fixtures, which was their last against Hull City away from home which ended 3 – 0.

My predictions for this mid table Premiership clash will back both clubs to come away with something from the game. The first will be for favourites Newcastle United to win in some form, while the other will back Stoke City for a rare away win. So for the first I am going to go for a 2 – 1 win by Newcastle United. With the next being both teams to score and for Stoke City to win the game after ninety minutes.
