Burnley v West Brom Preview, Premiership, Sunday 8th January 2015

The hosts will look at this game as a must win come Sunday lunch time as with the club just one point above the bottom three sides before the games on Saturday afternoon, failure to secure maximum points from this game could see Sean Dyche’s side in a very precarious position towards the foot of the premiership league table.

West Brom will also be looking to secure all three points from this game as their form recently has been extremely difficult for their fans to endure as they have seen their club go from a top five position in the league table a few months ago, to now 15th position and just three points from the relegation places.

Burnley will head into this game having lost their last two league games on the bounce and were knocked out of the FA Cup losing 4-2 by Spurs, so the confidence of the squad will obviously be lacking.

West Brom head into the game on the back of a 3-0 defeat against Spurs in the league, but prior to that, Tony Pulis’ side had gone five matches unbeaten and with their hosts having struggled in recent weeks, the visitors will certainly be the more confident of the two sides.

Burnley Team News:

Kevin Long, Matthew Taylor and Stephen Ward all remain unavailable for the hosts as they continue to receive treatment for respective injury related problems. Striker Danny Ings is the clubs current top goalscorer this season in the league with 7 and looks likely to lead the attack up front with either George Boyd or Ashley Barnes, who have both scored 4 goals each in the league this season.

West Brom Team News:

Boaz Myhill and Jonas Olsson are both unavailable for this game due to respective injury problems. Darren Fletcher is still lacking match fitness and also looks unlikely to be handed his debut for the club after completing the move from Manchester United. Youffouf Mulumbu and Jason Davidson have both returned from International duty and could return back into the starting lineup for this one.

Saido Berahino is the clubs current top goalscorer this season in the league with 9 and will lead the attack up front alongside Victor Anichebe or Ideye Brown who have both only scored just 1 goal in the league this season.

Burnley v West Brom Head to Head Statistics:

Burnley v West Brom Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

Burnley have a good record at Turf Moor and although they have lacked goals, their last couple of games at home have produced four, so there are definitely signs that they are improving in front of goal and with West Brom having found it very difficult to win on the road this season, I can see why Burnley are the favourites to win this game on Sunday afternoon.

However, for me West Brom have the stronger squad on paper and with a striker like Berahino who a lot of clubs would love to have in their squad, they do have a very real goal scoring threat and I can definitely see West Brom scoring at least once during this game.

The average goals per game statistics are suggesting this match to see plenty of goals scored and as such my Banker prediction is going to be Berahino Anytime Goalscorer as Ladbrokes have him at very good odds to find the back of the net in this one.

My Saver is going to be for this game to finish either 1-1 or 2-2 as I can definitely see both clubs settling for a point a piece as a defeat would be a disaster result.
