Swansea City v Cardiff City Preview, Premiership, Saturday 8th February 2014

Both Swansea and Cardiff will see this as a massive game to get bragging rights and more importantly what could turn out to be a massive 3pts come the end of the season and with both clubs having been in poor form recently a victory could be just what is needed for one of these sides to get their season back on track.

Swansea the hosts, head into the game in 12th position with 24 points, Cardiff however, who are in there first season in the premier league are struggling in 19th position with only 21 points but will be fully aware that a win against there rivals could take them level on points and out of the relegation places.

This looks likely to be a tight affair between these two sides with both showing complete passion to win for their fans, although with Swansea having just sacked Michael Laudrup and put Gary Monk in temporary charge, it will be interesting to see how the players react.

Cardiff have also recently changed managers with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer now having came in to take over from the sacked Malky Mackay and both coaches will be desperate to secure the maximum points from this game on saturday evening.

Swansea City Team News:

Swansea City will welcome back Michu who is expected to be match fit, the only noticeable absence for the game against Cardiff is Jonjo Shelvey who is a suffering from a hamstring injury. Swansea have signed Marvin Emnes and David Ngog who are both eligible to play and look likely to feature at some point during this match.

Cardiff City Team News:

Cardiff are set to have a strong line up with only a minor doubt in Mark Hudson. Cardiff have also signed Wilfried Zaha on a loan deal which should add a great deal of promise to their attack up front in partnership with either Kenwyne Jones or Fraizer Campbell.

Swansea City: L L W W L

Both clubs have been struggling for consistency of late having only managed 2 victories and 3 defeats from their last 5 matches played and based on those statistics, this game really could go either way at the Liberty Stadium on saturday evening.

Swansea City v Cardiff City Match Betting Odds Market

Swansea City have just parted ways with manager Michael Laudrup after some poor results this season and Gary Monk will take charge for this game. The online bookmakers have the hosts priced up as the favourites to win this match and are currently a best price of 5/6 with Bet365 (£200 Free Bets for New Customers).

The Draw has not been an outcome that happens often when these two clubs go head to head, but with both sides desperate for points at the moment as we enter the final few months of the season one could be due and this can be backed at a best price of 13/5 with Ladbrokes (£50 Free Bets for New Customers).

Cardiff City are currently involved in a relegation battle for survival along with West Ham United and Fulham and all 3pts from this game is crucial if they are to climb out of the bottom three and the visitors can be backed at a best price of 19/5 with BetVictor (£25 Free Bets for New Customers).

Swansea City v Cardiff City Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

With there being an average goals scored ratio of 2.55 at the liberty stadium in the previous matches and both teams defensive record this season being poor I am expecting to see at least a couple of goals in this one, so I would predict 2 or 3 total match goals with the best price available on this being at 10/11 with paddy power.

The last 5 games have finished with a 1 goal winning margin and with Swansea’s season being slightly better and being the host for Saturday evenings game I would predict Swansea to win by a 1 goal margin with the best price currently on offer being 27/10 with Ladbrokes.
