Derby County v Blackpool Preview, Championship, Saturday 7th December 2013

Derby County had an enjoyable week having beat Wigan 3 – 1 away from home and then 10 man Middlesbrough 2 – 1 at Pride Park. Not only that but it has also seen Derby County move up the table into 4th place after a terrible September where they only earned 4 league points from a possible 12 and then also were knocked out of the Capital One Cup to Leicester City. But since September they have won 6 games, drawn 2 and only lost 1 which has earned young Derby defender Andre Wisdom as a contender for player of the month.

Blackpool’s results have been mixed in recent weeks with their worst result against Yeovil Town kick starting December with a disappointing loss. With a win here and there it is however enough to keep Blackpool in 6th position with a strange run of 5 draws in 6 games also hindered their chances of maximizing point gain. Although they lost midweek to newly promoted Yeovil they will be looking to beat in form Derby County which would put them above them with 3 points the better.

Derby County v Blackpool Team News

Derby County News:

Things are looking very positive for Derby County is recent weeks, with having no major injury worries reported they also have a strike force who are all in great form and scoring goals. With Chris Martin (7), Johnny Russell (5) and Jamie Ward on 5 goals we can see they are firing on all cylinders. Not only those 3 are scoring however as we also have Sammon, Bennett and Dawkins grabbing 5 goals between them which accounts for all active Derby County strikers.

Blackpool News

Blackpool will be missing 3 important key players against Derby County after club captain MacKenzie and Broadfoot both picked up 2 yellow cards at the end of the game against Yeovil Town on Tuesday. Not only that they also see Fuller sent off for violent conduct with a straight red after head butting Luke Ayling. With a mad 5 minutes at the end of the match Blackpool ended the game with only 8 men.

Derby County v Blackpool Head to Head Statistics

With the 35 games played between these two sides it is actually pretty even when it comes down to the spoils, Derby County and Blackpool both have 13 wins each so no club have the advantage here. Blackpool have earned an extra away win but that’s nothing to look too deep into here as Derby are the better in form team here so would have the advantage being at home on Saturday.

Blackpool are still in with a chance of winning this result, but having only won 4 times at this ground since these two have met its not holding too much hope for the punter if they were to place a bet. Derby County v Blackpool Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

Although both of these two sides are sitting on equal points in the Championships you would have to favor in form Derby County for the win come Saturday lunchtime. There whole strike force are in form and proving to be deadly in front of goal having scored 22 goals between the 6 options Steve McClaren has up front. Not only that we have Derby Right Back Andre Wisdom in the form of his life and also up for a player of the month award which will be drawn on Friday.

So I feel my prediction for this match are an easy choice really, it has to go down as a Derby County win especially as Blackpool have only won at the Pride Park Stadium 3 times since these two sides have met. With Blackpool losing to struggling Yeovil Town during the week their confidence will of taken another knock which I am sure Derby will be looking to take full advantage of. So with my prediction of a Derby win I am going to add a goal scorer in there also making it a Wincast. You could go for any of the inform strikers but I think I will go for Chris Martin as he is scoring quite freely right now.

My other prediction is for both teams to score and for Derby County to WIN which is currently giving great odds. I know Blackpool don’t score many away from home to Derby but looking at the stats they are 18 goals for 18 away games so you never know it could just well come in.
