Stoke City v Chelsea Preview, Premiership, Saturday 7th November 2015

Stoke City head into this game having had a very average season so far and face a difficult challenge going up against the current premiership champions. Mark Hughes side will take some confidence from the fact that they have already dumped Chelsea out of the league cup, but their record against Chelsea over the years is not the best and the visitors will surely be right up for this game having won an important champions league game midweek.

No Jose Mourinho at the game this weekend after the FA banned him, so the players might actually get a chance to relax and play the kind of football we all know they can play. It’s been a difficult season for Chelsea so far and if they are to have any chance of making a top four finish and a champions league spot for next year, they really need to win this game and go on a good run.

Stoke City Team News:

Stoke are without Marc Muniesa (hamstring) and Shay Given (knee) other than these two players, manager Mark Hughes has a fully fit squad to choose his starting lineup from for this game.

Chelsea Team News:

As well as long-term absentee Thibaut Courtois, Chelsea have been without Branislav Ivanovic (hamstring) and Radamel Falcao (muscle injury) during recent matches, although Pedro made a return as a substitute against Kiev and could possibly feature in the starting lineup for this one.

Stoke City v Chelsea Head to Head Statistics:

Saturday’s evening game from the Britannia Stadium will become the 72nd meeting between the two clubs over the years. Stoke City have won 21 times overall, with 15 of those having come with home advantage where as Chelsea have won 35 times overall, 14 of those having came away from home.

The previous 5 meetings below in our head to head statistics table show Chelsea having a clear advantage having won 4 times compared to Stoke City having failed to win any and the remaining game having finished all square.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

203 Goals have been scored in the previous 71 meetings between the two clubs and this provides us with an overall average goals per game statistic of 2.86.

96 of those Goals have came in the 35 previous matches played at the Britannia Stadium and this generates us an average goal scoring statistic of exactly 2.74.

Based on both sets of data shown above, it does seem to indicate that this game should see a minimum of between two or three goals scored and betting markets like Total Match Goals 2 or 3 and Both Teams to Score look the best places to concentrate on.

Stoke City have been in good form recently and with Chelsea having had a complete nightmare in recent weeks the hosts do look value at their current best price of 3/1 with Betfred – Bet £10 & Receive £30 Free Bets For New Customers.

The Draw has not been a common result when the two clubs have met recently having only happened once in the last five meetings so some might argue that another one is definitely overdue and this can be backed at a current best price of 12/5 with Bet365 – £200 Matched Bonus Bets for New Customers.

Stoke City v Chelsea Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

Stoke City have a chance to add more misery to an already awful season for all Chelsea fans on Saturday evening and with their recent league cup victory against their visitors the hosts will definitely be in confident mood in front of a packed out Britannia Stadium.

However, the absence of Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho from the dugout after his ban from the FA could actually be a welcome blessing for the players and it surely is only a matter of time before the current premier league champions get back to winning ways.

The head to head statistics show a strong advantage for a Chelsea win and with the visitors having had won 14 and lost just one of the previous 17 meetings in all competitions with them before that league cup defeat and the fact that Stoke City have won just one of their last five Barclays Premier League matches at the Britannia Stadium, Chelsea do look the more likely winners despite their recent bad form.

Onto some predictions then and my Banker Free Tip is going to be for Chelsea to win this game as with a very good record against their hosts and a much stronger squad, I can only see a blue’s victory here.

My First Goalscorer Free Tip will be Chelsea striker Diego Costa to open up the scoring for the visitors as he will know how lucky he was not to have received a ban for his antics last weekend against Liverpool’s Martin Skritel and I fully expect him to repay his fans by getting on the score-sheet in this game.
