Brighton & Hove Albion v Nottingham Forest Preview, Championship, Friday 7th August 2015

English Championship kicks off once again this Friday and starts with Brighton & Hove Albion playing hosts to Nottingham Forest. In terms of pre-season friendlies Brighton & Hove Albion have done very well having played seven in total. In the seven they have only lost the once which was to Scottish club Aberdeen away from home. We have seen five wins with the more impressive being that of Spanish side Seville. The bookmakers don’t have much hope of them actually winning the title outright, yet promotion is a possibility with the best odds coming in at 9/1 by a few reputable bookies.

Nottingham Forest had many up’s and down’s last season and at one moment could of been fighting for promotion. The championship club have also played seven friendlies during pre-season, and during these did only manage the one win against League Two side Stevenage. Yet we can’t take away from the fact that they did play some tough sides including Premiership sides Swansea City and Aston Villa and did manage to draw both. Nottingham Forest are being given roughly the same odds as their opponents for promotion come the end of the season. They do feel Forest are far behind Brighton & Hove Albion in regards to actually winning outright. With the best odds of them doing so coming in at 33/1 by a couple of bookmakers, apart from those two the odds are closer to Brighton & Hove Albion’s at around 23/1.

Brighton & Hove Albion Team News:

Brighton & Hove Albion have spent just under £1 million during this summers transfer window, with it all being on one player, Tomer Hemed from UD Almeria. Liam Rosenior, Niki Maenpaa, Gaetan Bong and Bobby Zamora have all signed on the free, while we also see youngster Jack Harper join from the Real Madrid U19’s side. Twelve players have left the club with nine of these all being released. the remaining three have all gone out on season long loans.

Nottingham Forest Team News:

Nottingham Forest have so far managed to sign five new players and without even spending a penny thus far. Jamie Ward, Matthew Mills and Dani Pinillos all signed for free while Ben Hamer joins the club on loan from Leicester City. Tim Erlandsson has joined from Halmstads BK also. Eight players have left the club and all as free transfers. Lars Veldwijk however is the only player of those eight to leave the club via a loan.

Brighton & Hove Albion have had the much better pre-season results with five wins, a loss and a draw. They had even beat Spanish tough side Sevilla which is nothing to turn your nose up at. Nottingham Forest have only won the once and lost twice, with the other four games ending in draws. Including those draws against Swansea City and Aston Villa.

Brighton & Hove Albion v Nottingham Forest Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

One of the toughest leagues in the world kick starts again this Friday evening and features two clubs with plenty of footballing history. Nottingham Forest finished the season in such poor style with losing four of their last five matches and drawing the other against Blackburn Rovers 3 – 3. The four loses see the club drop far down into the middle of the table which resulted in much disappointment by the fans.

Brighton & Hove Albion can’t be happy with their performances either with them only just managing to avoid relegation by a six point margin. They did also lose three of their last five games with the other two ending in goalless draws against Middlesbrough and Huddersfield Town. The bookmakers have both clubs set to having little chance of promotion this season, although there are many teams below them in the pecking order.

My predictions for Friday nights Championship kick off does see Brighton & Hove Albion starting their season with a good solid win. Having looked at the clubs pre-season success you can’t but feel the club have done well and if continued could enjoy the season in front of them. Nottingham Forest however can take confidence from a few of their performances having drawn against Premiership sides Aston Villa and Swansea City. So for my first I am going to go for a predicted correct score of 3 – 1 to Bright & Hove Albion. The other will be for over 2.5 goals scored on the night, and with the previous head to head history taken into account I see no reason why this cannot come to light.
