Norwich City v Manchester United Preview, Premiership, Saturday 7th May 2016.

Its not looking promising for Norwich City who have now slipped into the relegation places and in real danger of going down back to the Championships. They still have a game in hand over Newcastle United who are currently two points ahead, but questions will be asked if the club have it in them to beat the likes of Manchester United, Watford and Everton in their remaining three games of the season.

The club did beat Newcastle United and West Bromwich Albion a fair few weeks back, but have since then lost three in a row and with one of the loses against Sunderland things are not looking too bright. The relegation battle heats up with the likelyhood of either Sunderland, neighbours Newcastle United or Norwich City joining the already relegated Aston Villa. Now Crystal Palace themselves are also still not safe, although I can’t personally see them going down come the end of the season.

Manchester United are still in with a shout of a top four finish and currently sit four points adrift neighbours Manchester City and with a game in hand. It will be three must win games for United and then hope that Man City and Arsenal lose all their their remaining two games. that said Manchester City have to host Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday and I can imagine deep down United will be hoping Arsenal actually win this game, as a point for each could still be dangerous.

Manchester United did exceptionally well against Leicester City who were recently crowned Champions after Tottenham Hotspurs failed to beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. If United did manage a win at Old Trafford against the Foxes then they could of been favourites to pip Manchester City to that fourth place finish they so desperately seek. It should be a routine win for United this Saturday, and then they hope to earn all three points against West Ham United and Bournemouth in their remaining games.

Norwich City  Team News:

Norwich City will likely be without Ryan Bennett who has failed to recover from an illness and also missed the game last week against Arsenal. The Canaries are also without centre-back Timm Klose due to his knee, and also Liverpool loanee Andre Wisdom with something similar. Long term injured Alex Tettey continues his rehab and wont be seen again until the new season.

Manchester United Team News:

As we already know United will be without midfielder Marouane Fellaini who recently picked up a three game match ban for violent conduct against Leicester City. We should see Herrera and Schneiderlin start on Saturday also with United’s injury list getting much smaller now. Those still out are of course Luke Shaw and Schweinsteiger.

Norwich City v Manchester United Head to Head Statistics:

It should of been five out of five for Manchester United, yet as we know this season they slipped up majorly at home when they lost 2 – 1 back in December at Old Trafford. It will be a must win for United this Saturday however, especially if they want to have any hope of taking that top four spot from current occupiers Manchester City.

The two have met each other on 50 occasions with United winning a total of 30 and losing just 10. Leaving the remaining 10 games as draws of some sort. United will be the favourites for the win this Saturday, as Norwich City fight for survival to stay in the Premier League for next season.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

In the fifty games played out we have seen a total of 120 goals scored. This is going to give us an average of 2.4 goals per game and with looking at the last five games played it would seem to be safer to go with over that amount of goals scored. However this is a tough game for both sides, with one seeking for relegation survival and the other a Champions League spot. So I’d feel safer going for the below option for Saturdays game.

Norwich City: L L L W W

Manchester United: D W W W W

Although this isn’t the Manchester United we are used to, they are still a team in far better form than that of Norwich City are are certainly set for relegation come the end of the season. A win on Saturday will leave United in a good position they are hoping, as Arsenal travel to Manchester City on Sunday with the result unpredictable.

Norwich City v Manchester United  Match Betting Odds Market

Norwich City are at home for the clash against Manchester United and will hope they can replicate what they achieved at Old Trafford back in December of last year. The odds on them beating United again are not favouring the home side, with the best of those odds found here @ 15/4 with Betvictor – £25 Free Bets For New Customers Registering an Account

The Draw I feel is the best Norwich City could hope for especially as Manchester United chase that ever so elusive four place Champions League spot. Manchester United couldn’t beat this Norwich City side at Old Trafford at the end of last year, yet still come into this game as solid favourites to win the game even though they are away from home. Norwich City v Manchester United Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

Saturday Lunchtime kickoff on Saturday comes live via BT Sports 1 High Definition and features home side Norwich City verses Champions League chasing side Manchester United. It’s a massive game for both clubs with all of the remaining games for each a must win situation. Norwich City in one hand face the dreaded relegation drop back into the Championship, while Manchester United are fighting to make sure they can get into the Champions League for next season at the expense of either Manchester City or Arsenal.

Norwich City come into this game on the back of three straight defeats, with things looking worse every game with them now one of the favourites to go down come the end of the season. They still have a game in hand over Newcastle United who managed to climb out of the bottom three recently. Yet the final finishing positions of either Sunderland, Newcastle or Norwich City are still unclear with the drop looming ever closer for any of the three mentioned. Who will be the side to join Aston Villa in the Championship next season? Who knows.

If Manchester United do win this game then it could be some nervous times at Upton Park the following week when they face West Ham United once again this season. Having knocked the Hammers out of the FA Cup semi-final I can imagine the Londoners fancy their revenge and cause an upset for United and their Champions League finishing hopes. United finish off their season against Crystal Palace away from home, which is also a must win for both sides with Palace still a point away from safety.

Manchester United have had plenty of chances to be up there this season and will look back at the silly games they have managed to lose over the season. One to mention would of been the home tie against Norwich City back in December, where Manchester United somehow managed to embarrass themselves with a 2 – 1 defeat. Even if they do win all of their remaining games, they will still need Manchester City to at least lose the once, or Arsenal losing twice in their remaining two games.

My predictions for Saturdays game does back that of a Manchester United win although we all know just how hard it is to beat a side who are still fighting to survive the relegation drop back into the Championship. My banker bet for this fixture will be that of Marcus Rashford to score anytime during the match. The next I am going for is that of Manchester United to win the game 3 – 1 on the day which is showing some nice odds right now.
