Valladolid v Real Madrid Preview, Primera La Liga, Wednesday 7th May 2014

Real Valladolid kick started their survival bid at the weekend with a win over Espanyol which has now put them just one point away from safety with three games remaining. I cannot see them earning much from the game at home to Real Madrid this Wednesday with the club looking to recover from last weekend after dropping points to Valencia. Good news for Valladolid however is that they still need to face Real Betis who are already relegated as well as Granada who if lose could replace Valladolid in the relegation zone.

Real Madrid would not of been happy with their performance at the weekend after going behind twice against Valencia. It took a 90th minute equalizer from Cristiano Ronaldo to completely save the clubs blushes as a loss would of been disastrous to their final run of games if they wish to pip Atletico Madrid to the Spanish La Liga Title. With Barcelona and Atletico dropping points at the weekend it would of been very frustrating for Real Madrid who could of seriously capitalized on those poor results, yet struggled themselves to the top three barely show any signs of being different.

Valladolid v Real Madrid Team News

Valladolid Team News:

No injuries to report for Real Valladolid so instead we take an inside look at the clubs top scorer this season. With 31 year old Spanish striker Javi Guerra taking the mantle here having scored 13 league goals so far as well as just 1 goal in the Cope del Rey. We do see a few goals scored here and there throughout the team but nothing too special to worth commenting on.

Real Madrid Team News:

Real Madrid can welcome back German international Sami Khedira after a long crucial ligament injury has kept the midfielder out of action for a majority of the season. Madrid are still missing Jese Rodriquez who is also suffering with knee ligament damage while Luka Modric now joins the list with an unknown issue but is down as missing this game.

Valladolid v Real Madrid Head to Head Statistics

Real Madrid are as expected the more dominant team here having won all of their last 5 head to head encounters. In total these two clubs have met 33 times with Valladolid only winning on 4 occasions. Where as Real Madrid have won a solid 20 with the remaining 9 games ending in draws. Real Madrid have drawn and won 7 times each away from home here and with the form they are in would be expected to continue one of these stats.

30/11/13 PRD Real Madrid – Real Valladolid 4 : 0
04/05/13 PRD Real Madrid – Real Valladolid
4 : 3
08/12/12 PRD Real Valladolid – Real Madrid 2 : 3
14/03/10 PRD Real Valladolid – Real Madrid
1 : 4
17/10/09 PRD Real Madrid – Real Valladolid 4 : 2

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

In these 33 games played in the past we have seen a total of 110 goals scored which is giving us an average of 3.3 goals per game. In their last two away games there has been 5 goals scored in each and with the poor form Valladolid are in we could expect pretty much some of the same again come Wednesday.

Valladolid v Real Madrid Recent Form (Left to Right)

Valladolid: D D L L W

Real Madrid: W W W W D

Valladolid have just three games to turn their season around and started the recovery process well with a well earned win over Espanyol at the weekend. As for form we can see the ball is clearly in Real Madrid’s court here even though they did drop points recently against Valencia.

Valladolid v Real Madrid Match Betting Odds Market.

Real Valladolid are a side who haven’t beaten this Real Madrid time in their last six attempts with each of these ending in a loss both home and away. They have only beaten Madrid on 4 occasions in the past but could this be their 5th? Valladolid v Real Madrid Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

With this game being Real Madrid’s game in hand that they have had for a few months now a win by the away side will once more apply more pressure on the current leaders Atletico Madrid. A win will put them just two points behind and take them into second and past Barcelona who are currently two points in front. A loss or draw for Real Madrid would of course be disastrous and they may as well kiss their treble hopes goodbye for another year.

Real Valladolid managed a rare win at the weekend at the hands of Espanyol which could be the start to their survival bid. With a win on Wednesday against Real Madrid it would allow them to climb out of the relegation zone for the first time in some time and then finish the season with two easier fixtures against Real Betis and Granada. Real Madrid still have a few games remaining this season with the Champions League final and the International Champions Cup still left to play, as well as a trip to Celta de Vigo before playing host to Espanyol for their last league game this season.

My predictions for this game will of course back Real Madrid who although did drop points against Valencia at the weekend, should still be seen as the clear winnings here on Wednesday as they look to play catch up to local rivals Atletico Madrid. So my first will be for Real Madrid to win 3 – 0 on the night while the next is for Gareth Bale to score and Real Madrid to win. The Welsh star is due a goal I feel as it has been a few weeks with his last being against Barcelona in the Cope del Rey final.
