AFC Bournemouth v Arsenal Preview, Premiership, Sunday 7th February 2016.

It’s been a rather enjoyable few weeks for AFC Bournemouth with a win at home against Norwich City and then a draw and two further wins away from home more recently. One of the wins was in the FA Cup fourth round in which they now face Everton at home nearing the end of February. Two Premiership wins and a draw see’s them currently seven points outside of the relegation zone, yet this Sundays encounter against Arsenal at home could see them lose as expected by the bookmakers. After this they face Stoke City at home in the league then Everton in the FA Cup, only to then travel away from home to in form Watford who are currently five points ahead of them. To finish up the next five fixtures they are back at home against Southampton who themselves have improved somewhat recently.

Arsenal have put their title challenging credentials in doubt in recent weeks after throwing away points to Liverpool, Stoke City, Chelsea and Southampton taking only three points maximum out of these games played. They did beat Championship side Burnley in the FA Cup even though that game gave the title challengers a scare when Sam Vokes equalized on the half hour mark. Arsenal are away from home on Sunday, yet are still considered the favourites to come away with all the spoils even though they are struggling to score recently. After Sunday they are at home for three games with top of the table Leicester City the only Premier League game on offer. They do also have Hull City in the next round of the FA Cup, then the 1st leg excitement of meeting Barcelona in the Champions League knockout stages. A visit to Old Trafford to face Manchester United completes the next five Arsenal fixtures.

 AFC Bournemouth Team News:

Bournemouth could be without Junior Stanislas after the winger was injured on the knee a couple of weeks back. Josh King has returned to full sitness having recovered from a hamstring pull, and did get some minutes under his belt against Crystal Palace. Max Gradel is still out until March while Callum Wilson is continuing his recovery and due back in April sometime.

Arsenal Team News:

Only the usual injuries for Arsenal although there has been news that Danny Welbeck has returned to training following a serious knee injury. The striker is still due out for around three weeks but at least it is some good news for Arsenal fans. Tomas Rosicky has suffered a set back and is not out for up to another 3 months, yet defender Per Mertesacker could return after starting on the bench against Southampton. Santi Cazorla (knee) and Jack Wilshere (leg) are still missing.

AFC Bournemouth v Arsenal Head to Head Statistics:

We only have the one game played between these two Premiership sides, mainly due to the rise of Bournemouth only being very recent. They did play just after Christmas in which Arsenal won with ease 2 – 0 at home. They are also the favourites to beat Bournemouth away from home on Sunday and to be honest even though the away side has dropped points recently I can’t see them failing to win here.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

With only the one game played out between these two clubs there has only been two goals scored, which is of course going to be our average goals per game total. The below option is always going to be a solid option for Sunday considering that Arsenal are not exactly flowing with goals right now.

Arsenal: D W L D D

It is in fact Bournemouth who are the better team right now with three wins a loss and a draw to their name, where as Arsenal have only won three points in total in their last five games played. As their only win in the form table above is against Burnley in the FA Cup competition in which they only just won 2 – 1. They are however still the favourites to win this game, yet it is Bournemouth who earn the below statistic.

AFC Bournemouth v Arsenal Match Betting Odds Market

AFC Bournemouth are at home against Arsenal on Sunday and are also the better team in form over the last five games played, yet are still not considered the favourites to win the game which has to be expected considering their league position. The Draw is a possibility come Sunday, and I say this because just go take a look at Arsenal’s recent form in the last five games played. That considered it is something I will be looking at when it comes down to my own predictions below. Arsenal may well of dropped nine points in their last four league games played, with the fifth game an FA Cup tie with Burnley. The club are still the favourites to win the game, and win they must if they do wish to keep up with Leicester City who currently lead Manchester City 3 -1.  AFC Bournemouth v Arsenal Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

Premiership action this Sunday brings out of form Arsenal on their visits far down south against newcomers AFC Bournemouth. It should be a great game hopefully and although Arsenal haven’t scored many recently I do feel this game does have at least three goals in it. Bournemouth themselves have been doing well as of late with three wins, a draw and a loss in their last five games played in all competitions. Their only loss was at home to in form West Ham United, but have since then beaten Norwich City and Crystal Palace in the league as well as drawing against Sunderland which could of been better. They have also seen themselves into the next round of the FA Cup after beating neighbors Portsmouth away from home.

Arsenal however seem to have lost their spark, which comes at a bad time for the club as they do welcomes Barcelona to The Emirates near the end of this month. Granted before that they do face Leicester City at home, who are currently making Manchester City look stupid at The Eithad with them currently winning 3 – 1. So Arsenal will need to show the league leaders some respect, as clearly City have failed to do so. They also face Hull City in the FA Cup which should also be a win for the London club and then after the fixture in the Champions League knockout stages they then have to go to Old Trafford and face Manchester United who seem to have stumbled onto some winning form.

My predictions for this game does tend to favour that of Arsenal, as surely the recent results have just been a blip in their title challenge? That said I do see some goals in the game so my banker is going to be both teams to score and for Arsenal to win the game come 90 minutes. The other I am going for is a simple draw result of any kind. With Arsenals recent results and poor form as well as Bournemouth doing well recently I do feel that the home side could potentially push for a draw and continue their struggle away from the relegation zone and avoid that dreaded drop come the end of the season. That would in turn be a fantastic result for the newly promoted club, who have come from rags to riches in such a short time and I for one would love to see them fight another year in the worlds biggest and most special league.
