Crystal Palace v Liverpool Preview, Premiership, Sunday 6th March 2016.

Crystal Palace usually enjoy their games against Liverpool having beaten them three times in the last five meetings. Two of this victories though have come away from home with the last time they won at home being back in 2014. The last time the two met here at Selhurst Park, Liverpool did manage a 2 – 1 win with Adam Lallana and Daniel Sturridge grabbing the goals.

The last five games we have seen Crystal Palace slowly decline and head downwards when it comes to looking at the table, with two loses and two draws that should of been wins hindering their progress. They did however manage a win over Tottenham Hotspurs in the FA Cup and now face Reading in the quarter finals away from home next Friday.

Liverpool may of lost their only realistic chance of earning a trophy against Manchester City in the Capital One Cup final last weekend yet do remain hopeful that they potentially can challenge in the Europa League having only just beating Augsburg in the last round. They face Manchester United in the next round with the 1st leg being played at home on Thursday.

Although the club did only lose on penalties in last weeks final they did manage to earn revenge having humiliated Manchester City 3 – 0 during the week. It makes it three wins in the last five fixtures played in all competitions, with the only draw being played away from home to Augsburg back in February. With Liverpool now finding some form I am sure they are surely the bookmakers favourites to win this Sunday afternoon.

Crystal Palace  Team News:

This is a must win situation for Crystal Palace who haven’t managed to win a game this year in the Premier League competition. It’s touch and go for in form striker Connor Wickham who as well as goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey will make late fitness tests to see if they will feature at all. Pape Souare has returned to the team selection having served his suspension which leaves just James McArthur and Jason Puncheon who are also missing yet are expected to return soon.

Liverpool Team News:

Good news for Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool fans who welcome back Philippe Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge after they were both rested against City last Wednesday. Sadly though Lucas Leiva will be missing for around six weeks after he picked up a thigh strain in the Capital One Cup final against Manchester City.

Crystal Palace v Liverpool Head to Head Statistics:

In the last five head to head fixtures it is the home side Crystal Palace who have experienced the better results. Having won three and just lost the once in the FA Cup last year. In total we have 33 games recorded between the two clubs with Crystal Palace just winning the 9 and losing a total of 17. Leaving 7 remaining games ending as draws of some sort.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

In the 33 games played out between the two clubs we have seen a total of 101 goals scored, and this is going to give us a goals per game average of roughly 3 which has only been seen twice in the last five games played. Two to three goals scored during a match is usually a good option to go for, but for me I am going to go for the below option for Sundays game.

Crystal Palace v Liverpool Recent Form All Competitions (Left to Right)

Crystal Palace: D L W L D

Liverpool: W L W D W

This year Crystal Palace have been in terrible form and have slowly but surely been allowed to slide down the Premiership table and into fifteenth. Liverpool have also had their bad run of form this year yet recently have managed to string a few wins together even though they did lose to Manchester City in the Capital One Cup final.

Crystal Palace v Liverpool Match Betting Odds Market

Crystal Palace may be at home and may also have had the better results between the two in the last five meetings, yet are still not considered the favourites to win this fixture and it can only be down to their current run of form. The best odds available right now for Palace to win can be seen here @ 14/5 with Bet365 – Receive £200 in Matched Bets when You Register a New Account

The Draw is an option even though it has only happened once in the last five games played. It wont however be featuring in my predictions as I personally can only see this game go one way. Best odds however on the draw can be found coming in here @ 5/2 with Bet365 – Receive £200 in Matched Bets when You Register a New Account

Liverpool have found some form in recent weeks even though they did record a loss recently at Wembley Stadium. They have struggled against Palace in recent years however I do agree and see them as the solid favourites against these out of form players. Crystal Palace v Liverpool Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

Premier League action Sunday Lunchtime comes to us live on Sky Sports 1 and can of course be viewed in all its glory with High Definition on offer. The game will be at Selhurst Park and features Crystal Palace against Liverpool who recently managed to humiliate Manchester City 3 – 0 and can only be seen as revenge after their Capital One Cup final loss on penalties.

Liverpool will be looking to end a bad run of form against Crystal Palace with them losing at Anfield twice in recent fixtures. They can however take note that the last time they played at this ground they did win 2 – 1 in the FA Cup last year. If you would of asked me a couple of weeks ago if Liverpool will win this I’d of said no, yet recent form has seen them play much better and I feel it can only go one way.

Crystal Palace maybe in the quarter finals of the FA Cup after beating Tottenham Hotspurs at White Hart Lane, yet it is their league form that is really suffering with them still yet to win a game in the league since before Christmas! They have only earned four points since their last win against Stoke City on the 19th December which leaves seven Premiership games all ending in loses.

Crystal Palace after this game do face Reading in the quarter final of the FA Cup and I can’t see them overturning this in form Reading side away from home. They then face top of the league Leicester City and also West Ham United who are exceptional this season. The only game I can see them winning is against Norwich City in April which completes the clubs next five fixtures in all competitions.

My predictions for this game are leaning more towards the away win here as I certainly do not see this Crystal Palace side causing too many issues for Liverpool who have recently come into some form. So for the banker prediction I am going to go for Liverpool to win the game to nil. The other prediction I am going for is Daniel Sturridge to score during the match and of course for Liverpool to win the game.
