Real Madrid v Celta Vigo Preview, Primera La Liga, Monday 6th January 2014

The main news in the Real Madrid camp is in regards to Gareth Bales return from injury and could warm the bench for Mondays clash against Celta Viga. The Welsh star will not be rushed back into the side by manager Ancelotti and the Italian is unsure if he will even get on the pitch for a game unless he is 100% sure the world record transfer star is fit enough. Carlo Ancelotti is also in the news stating Real Madrid have no intention of selling or buying any players in the January transfer window, yet news in Manchester is that summer loan target Fabio Coentrao has been told he can leave Madrid in a cut price deal although there is no proof on paper just yet. We also hear names like Xabi Alonso and Iker Casillas in possible outgoing transfers away from Real Madrid yet Ancelotti has since insisted no one is going anywhere.

Celta Vigo are a team struggling for consistent results in the Primera Division and have only picked up points with four wins and four draws so far this season. Having lost nine of their league games they sit just one point away from a relegation battle. They did however have some luck in the first leg of their Copa del Rey draw against Athletic Bilbao where they won 1 – 0 at home, it would of been a great confidence boost but in the return leg they did however get smashed 4 goals to nil sending them out of the cup 4 – 1 on aggregate. A few days later Celta did have a great opportunity to put some points between them and the sides below them with a home encounter against 18th placed Osasuna, yet could only manage a 1 – 1 draw which brings more misery to this out of form club.

Real Madrid v Celta Vigo Team News

Real Madrid Team News:

Real Madrid fans will see summer signing Gareth Bale return to the squad for Mondays clash after recovering from injury. Yet it is said manager Ancelotti in unsure if he will play the Welsh star in fear of rushing him back. Bale picked up the calf injury in training before Christmas and missed the 2nd leg against Olimpic Xatvia in the Copa del Rey as well as a league match against Valencia. Other injuries include Varane (Knee), Sami Khedira(Crucial Knee Ligament) and Fabio Coentrao(Sprained Ankle).

Celta Vigo Team News:

Celta Vigo’s only injury is Spanish defender Samuel Llorca who is out long term with crucial knee ligament damage and we have no idea if he will feature at all this season. Celta Vigo have been struggling for consistency this season and rely on goals coming from Brazilian Charles who has hit 5 goals in 15 appearances. We also see a fair few goals coming from the midfield with Alex Lopez joint top club scorer with Charles.

Real Madrid v Celta Vigo Head to Head Statistics

As expected you would come to think it would be Real Madrid who dominate these head to heads yet we have actually seen Celta Vigo grab at least 1 win which was last year in the Copa del Ray at home. On aggregate though they went out 5 – 2 after losing 4 – 0 away from home in the 2nd leg. In total we have seen them feature 30 times against each other with Real Madrid winning 17 to Celta Vigo’s impressive 10. With just 3 draws between them I cannot imagine that result happening again anytime soon.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

In the 30 games played we have seen a total of 89 goals scored which is giving us a great average of 2.96 goals per game. I can imagine there being a minimal of 3 goals on Monday with Real Madrid having a chance to improve their already impressive goal difference.

Real Madrid v Celta Vigo Recent Form (Left to Right)

Real Madrid: W W W D W

Celta Vigo: D L L W W

With Celta Vigo struggling close to the relegation zone their form in the Primera hasn’t been the best but did manage a home win at the end of November for a much needed 3 points. Their last win was against 4th place Athletic Bilbao but was in the Copa del Rey, it was a great scalp to take but I am sure they would of preferred the win to be a league game purely for those important 3 points on offer.

Real Madrid v Celta Vigo Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

With everything taken into account you have to look at home bad the visitors are struggling this season. With them managing to stay up last term bookmakers are setting them for the drop come May unless they do manage to turn it around. With only one point away from teams in the red zone they should of really been fighting for the win unlike last week where they only managed a draw against 18th placed Osasuna. A win at home could of given them hope and built some difference between them and failing in such can only of given them a confidence knock.

For a side like Celta Vigo to come to this majestic stadium, I can only see one outcome and that is for there to be a lot of goals. With those goals I can only see them favoring Real Madrid as they look to improve their already impressive goal difference. Using this game to improve on that stat can only aid them at the end of the season if they do manage to make up the eight points difference between them and Atletico Madrid who have played one more that Real.

So lets get down to predicting this goal crazy game on Monday, we could go for a few options here with a Goal Band 4-6 being just one option, although they odds are not great you would still see an okay return. Guessing a correct score is well out of the question with myself being unable to even put a finger on the amount of goals Real Madrid could score on Monday. One of the predictions I am going for is a Total Goal Market of Over 4.5 Goals which could well prove to be a good one. The other is for Cristiano Ronaldo to score yet another hat-trick which is well due by what I feel is the best player on the planet right now.
