Stoke City v Manchester City Preview, Premiership, Saturday 5th November 2015

Stoke City head into this game currently occupying a mid-table position in the league table on 19pts having won five, drawn four and lost five of their opening fourteen matches played and with a 2-0 defeat away against Sunderland last weekend, neither the fans or the players will be particularly looking forward to this game on Saturday afternoon.

Manchester City currently lead the way at the top of the premiership league table on twenty-nine points and responded well to their 4-1 hammering by Liverpool a fortnight ago by beating Southampton 3-1 away in their last league match last weekend and with some of their key players now having returned to the squad having been out with injuries, the City players will be confident of returning back home with another 3pts from this one.

Stoke City Team News:

Peter Crouch is a doubt for the hosts after suffering a hamstring injury midweek, but Mame Biram Diouf is set to return after missing the midweek game due to birth of his child. Ryan Shawcross is also available after serving a one-match suspension in the cup.

Manchester City Team News:

The visitors will be without captain Vincent Kompany (calf), Pablo Zabaleta (knee) and Sergio Aguero (heel), but  is in contention to play after taking part in training.

Yaya Toure and Samir Nasri were also ruled out by City boss Manuel Pellegrini on Friday afternoon and Eliaquim Mangala is suspended. Joe Hart (hamstring), Fernando and Jesus Navas (ankle) have all been passed fit to play though which is a boost for the visitors.

Stoke City v Manchester City Head to Head Statistics:

Saturday’s lunch time game from the Britannia Stadium will become the 87th meeting between the two clubs over the years. Stoke City have won 28 times overall, with 21 of those having come with home advantage where as Manchester City have won 35 times overall, 11 of those having came away from home.

The previous 5 meetings below in our head to head statistics table show Manchester City having a clear advantage having won 3 times compared to Stoke City having only won just the one game and the remaining game having finished all square.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

210 Goals have been scored in the previous 86 meetings between the two clubs and this provides us with an overall average goals per game statistic of 2.44.

116 of those Goals have came in the 43 previous matches played at the Britannia Stadium and this generates us an average goal scoring statistic of exactly 2.70.

Based on both sets of data shown above, it does seem to indicate that this game should see a minimum of between two or three goals scored and betting markets like Total Match Goals 2 or 3 and Both Teams to Score look the best places to concentrate on.

Stoke City v Manchester City Match Betting Odds Market

Stoke City have been in good form recently, but their 2-0 defeat last weekend against struggling Sunderland really would of have hit the players confidence hard, so no real surprise to see the hosts priced up at current best odds of 4/1 with Betfred – Bet £10 & Receive £30 Free Bets For New Customers.

The Draw has happened once when the two clubs have met in their last five meetings and with Stoke City a solid and tough side to beat at home many people will no doubt be getting on the draw as their main cover bet for this match and this can be backed at a current best price of 31/10 with BetVictor – Receive £50 Free Bets For New Customers.

Manchester City did respond from their 4-1 beating by Liverpool a fortnight ago by beating Southampton 3-1 away in their last league match, but the squad is still missing a number of key players for this game and for me the visitors look a bit short at their current best odds of 7/10 with Bet365 – Receive £200 Matched Bonus Bets For New Customers.

Stoke City v Manchester City Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

Stoke City will be looking to put in a much better performance than they did last weekend when losing 2-0 away against struggling Sunderland and now with home advantage, I do expect them to make it very difficult for Manchester City during this game, especially having won their midweek cup match.

However, despite Manchester City still missing some of their key players for this match, their squad is so full of world class players that even without Aguero, Ya Ya Toure and Vincent Kompany they still look a much stronger side than Stoke and I do expect them to win this game on Saturday afternoon.

As such my Banker Free Tip for this game is going to be Both Teams to Score & Manchester City to Win as I do think the hosts will get at least one goal during the match and with the visitors not looking great value at their odds on price for the straight win, this does look the value play here.

My First Goalscorer Free Tip is going to be for Kevin De Bruyne to open up the scoring for Manchester City as he has been in good goalscoring form of late and without Sergio Aguero leading the attack due to injury, he should get plenty of opportunities linking up with Wilfried Bony.
