Newcastle United v Manchester United Preview, Premiership, Saturday 5th April 2014

Newcastle United are possibly looking at three straight defeats in a row coming into this game on Saturday and it will not be the first time that bad run of form has been seen by this Newcastle side. They will need to respect that although Manchester United are not having the best of seasons their away record is far greater than their home, which is something unheard of since the Premiership had started.

David Moyes will be looking to continue with this recent run of good form and will be looking for revenge after losing to Newcastle United at Old Trafford earlier in the season. After an impressive display from United midweek, where they pushed Europe’s best team to their limit they will be looking for a win on Saturday before heading out to Germany to face Bayern Munich in the second leg of the Champions League Quarter Finals.

Newcastle United Team News:

Newcastle United have a number of injury worries right now with five players on the list. Sammy Ameobi is one of those who is out with an ankle injury. Obertan and goalkeeper Krul are both missing with knee injuries while Ryan Taylor is the more serious with crucial knee ligament damage. Then we have Debuchy who completes the list with a groin strain.

Manchester United Team News:

Manchester United’s only injury worry is that of Dutch international Robin van Persie who is likely to miss a majority of the season with crucial knee ligament damage. In form Wayne Rooney will likely continue to lead the attack having scored 17 times in all competitions and will no doubt see new signing Juan Mata behind him as he looks to continue adding goals after opening his account against Aston Villa at the weekend.

Newcastle United v Manchester United Head to Head Statistics:

Manchester United just win the last 5 head to head statistic challenge with 3 wins and 2 loses, although they will begrudgingly want revenge after being beaten at Old Trafford earlier in the season. In total we have seen these two clubs meet 137 times with Manchester United winning 67 of them to Newcastle United’s 34. There has also been 36 draws with 16 of them at St James Park.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

In these 137 games played in the past we have seen a total of 468 goals scored which gives us a very nice average of 3.4 goals per game. So hopefully this Saturday’s game has more of the same on offer as Manchester United continue their chase for fourth.

Newcastle United v Manchester United Recent Form (Left to Right)

Newcastle United: L L W L W

Manchester United: D W L W W

Manchester United’s form seems to have picked up a little recently with only one loss in their last five games. They have also managed a well earned draw in the Champions League against Bayern Munich and in the second half almost seemed to of been the better side. Newcastle United’s form in the last few games has seriously dipped having lost two heavily to Everton and Southampton.

Newcastle United v Manchester United Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

I will be looking forward to this game on Saturday afternoon as this weekend has a great verity of exciting matches available on all sports channels. This game will be featured on Sky Sports 2 HD and is set to be a great game as Manchester United continue to chase that alluding fourth position. With only six games left to play and only eighteen points up for grab they can only hope that Arsenal either draw or lose a majority if their remaining games. As such that ending David Moyes wanted would be seen as very unlikely and I feel we will only see Manchester United in the Champions League next season if the famous club defied all odds and actually won it this year.

Newcastle United will be hoping to end their run of bad form and will be very unhappy to lose three in a row for the third time this season. The must respect the fact that their opponents have the best away record in the Premiership this season so a win for the home side here will be hard fought. David Moyes is hoping United end their poor season with a great run of results with their hardest fixture being the away visit to his old club Everton who currently occupy fifth position.

My predictions for this game do favour that of the English Champions with the first being Manchester United to win 3 – 0 on the day. Its a result I see has great prospect and with Newcastle United failing to hit the net  since their win over Crystal Palace I do feel Man United defence will cope with whatever is thrown at them on Saturday. The next prediction I am going for is Juan Mate to score anytime during the game and Manchester United to win the match. Its purely based on the fact that now he has his first goal I can see him quickly trying to add another.
