Preston North End v Nottingham Forest Preview, FA Cup, Wednesday 5th February 2014

Preston North End’s new boy Graig David inspired his new club to a 2 – 0 victory over Notts County and aided in the push for a Championship promotion. With his first goal under his belt since his last minute departure in the January transfer window he will be quick to look forward and not to his past with Bolton. Preston are currently in 4th position in League One and are a long eight points off their closest challenge Leyton Orient. As long as they continue grabbing some well earned wins like at Notts County the fans are starting to believe a promotion could well be in sight.

Nottingham Forest are also playing very well lately and recently took advantage of a struggling Yeovil Town with a 3 – 1 victory. Its a result that was seen as a must as the historic club look to cement their position as they continue to build for that promotion to the Premier League. So far Nottingham Forest are on a 13 game unbeaten run in all competitions and with their head to head statistics taken into account they could well make it 14.

Preston North End Team News:

Declan Rudd will once more be starting for the home side with the keeper playing in every game so far this season. Joe Garner should also be set to start another with the striker currently scoring 9 goals in 19 games so far. An incredible 12 goals have so far come from Preston End’s midfield players this season so Forest will need to be sharp in the middle of the part to contain their attacking threat.

Nottingham Forest Team News:

Nottingham Forest are another side who have places a lot of faith in one keeper this season with the young 23 year old Karl Darlow who has played 28 games this season. Forest have scored an abundant number of goals this season with 8 goals coming from striker Simon Cox so far. Cos is not the only striker to be on the score sheet as we also see Darius Henderson scoring 6 so far. We also see 15 goals scored between midfield par Lansbury and Andy Reid.

Preston North End v Nottingham Forest Head to Head Statistics:

As we can see in the last 5 head to head statistics it is Nottingham Forrest who have been the better side with 3 wins and 2 draws. In the past there has been 44 games played between these two sides and Forest only just trump Preston with 16 wins to PNE’s 14. We have also seen 14 games ending as a draw with 5 of them with Forest away from home.

Preston North End v Nottingham Forest United Recent Form (Left to Right)

Preston North End: W D D D W

Nottingham Forest: W W D W D

Both clubs are playing reasonably well in their divisions but in the last 5 games played we see Nottingham Forest with the form advantage. Also with them playing in the better competition you would have to favour the away side come Wednesday.

Preston North End v Nottingham Forest Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

This replay is set to produce some great entertainment on Wednesday night where the last game between these two ended as a boring scoreless draw. With both sides having some great attacking talent it was a shock to see so little worry either keeper in the first game. If we look at the last 5 games these two have played each other you can see that Nottingham Forest are the better side and have often won away from home when these two meet.

Granted the last game ended goalless I still believe the better side on the night will be Nottingham Forest as they look to continue their unbeaten run to make it 14. How many goals I see in this match is not anything to get too excited about. If we are lucky there could only be one to three goals in it and we could even go into extra time then penalties. But as for my predictions I plan to go with a Nottingham Forest win and an Andy Reid goal from midfield. The other prediction I am going for is Nottingham Forest to win 1 – 0 on the night.
