Arsenal v Manchester United Preview, Premiership, Sunday 4th October 2015.

Arsenal head into this game on Sunday afternoon having had a good start to their new season campaign and although the players might still be recovering from their midweek UEFA Champions League defeat against Olympiakos which they lost 3-2, manager Arsene Wenger will no doubt have his players in the right frame of mind for this epic encounter which both sides will obviously want to win.

Manchester United have also had a good start to their new season and coming off the back of a well deserved victory midweek in their UEFA Champions League match against Wolfsburg which they won 2-1, the players will certainly be in confident mood for this game and will definitely believe that they can win this match.

Arsenal Team News:

Arsenal will be without centre-half Laurent Koscielny (hamstring) for Sunday’s clash with United.

Striker Olivier Giroud is in contention after being suspended for the midweek Champions League defeat to Olympiakos.

Mathieu Flamini (hamstring) and captain Mikel Arteta (dead leg) are still not available. Jack Wilshere (fibula), forward Danny Welbeck and Czech midfielder Tomas Rosicky (both knee) are also sidelined.

Manchester United Team News:

Table-topping United have Michael Carrick available at the Emirates Stadium.

Carrick sat out the Champions League win over Wolfsburg on Wednesday due to what was described as a minor injury, but United boss Van Gaal has said the 34-year-old will be fit to play against the Gunners.

It remains to be seen whether fellow central midfielder Ander Herrera, another absentee on Wednesday, is involved, while Van Gaal has also said he will consult with a specialist about fatigue in his squad before making his team selection.

Arsenal v Manchester United Head to Head Statistics:

Sunday afternoon’s game from the Etihad Stadium will become the 181st meeting between the two clubs over the years, of which Arsenal have won 61 times overall with 46 of those having came with home advantage.

Manchester United have won an impressive 77 times overall, but have only managed just 24 victories at the Emirates Stadium. Our head to head statistics table below shows the previous 5 matches played between the two clubs over recent season’s and as we can see it has been a very tight affair with Arsenal having won 1 and United have won 2 and the remaining 2 matches having finished all square.

09/03/15 FAC Manchester United vs Arsenal 1 : 2

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

509 Goals have been scored in the previous 180 meetings between the two clubs and this provides us with an overall average goals per game statistic of 2.83.

268 of those Goals have came in the 89 previous matches played at the Emirates Stadium and this generates us an average goal scoring statistic of 3.01.

Based on both sets of data shown above, it does seem to strongly indicate that this game should see at least a few goals scored and betting markets like total match goals 2 or 3, both teams to score and over 2.5 goals all look attractive for this one.

Arsenal v Manchester United Match Betting Odds Market

Arsenal could still be suffering from a bit of confidence having lost midweek in the Champions League, so it does surprise me a little to see the online bookmakers having the hosts priced up as the clear favourites to win this game at a current best price of just 11/10 with Betfred – Bet £10 Get £30 Free Bets when you Register a New Account

The Draw has happened twice in the last five meetings between these two and with very little between them in the league table I can definitely see this game having a very good chance of ending up all square come Sunday afternoon and this can be backed at a current best price of 13/5 with Coral – Deposit £5 and Receive £20 Free Bets for New Customers that Register an Account.

Manchester United have had a great start to their new season and are certainly capable of winning this game on Sunday afternoon desipite not having a great record away against Arsenal in the past and for me the visitors look great value at a current best price of 14/5 with BetVictor – £50 Free Bets for all New Customers that Register an Account.

Arsenal v Manchester United Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

This is one of those games that everybody looks forward too when the fixtures are announced and with both clubs having start the new season on the front foot, this game could go a long way to deciding which club has the more potential at winning the title this season.

Arsenal will need to defend better than they currently have though as Arsene Wengers side have already conceded ten times in their last five matches played in all competitions, with three of those having came midweek in their 3-2 defeat at home against Olympiakos.

United have also had a tendancy to concede goals over recent weeks, but have seemed to defend better in their last five matches as they have only conceded five times during those so it does seem that the manager is beginning to get it right with his back line.

Let’s get onto some predictions for the match then and with everything taken into consideration my Banker Free Tip is going to be for this game to see Both Teams to Score as with an average goals statistic of 3.01 when these two sides have met each other over the years at the Emirates Stadium, it does show that this game should see plenty of goals scored on Sunday afternoon.

My First Goalscorer Free Tip is going to be Wayne Rooney as now that he is being played in a more central role up front, rather than dropping deep and helping out the midfield, he does look attractive odds to open up the goalscoring in this one.
