Chelsea v Stoke City Preview, Premiership, Saturday 4th April 2015

Chelsea head into this game on Saturday evening with a 6pt lead at the top of the Premiership league table and with the club having struggled slightly in their last four matches played in the league, manager Jose Mourinho will no doubt be expecting his players to play much better now that the squad has had a break due to International football from what has been a busy season so far.

Stoke City head into this game having also struggled in their last couple of league matches which has seen them lose against West Brom 1-0 and Crystal Palace 2-1 and manager Mark Hughes will obviously be far from happy with how his side has played during those couple of games.

However, things don’t look like getting any easier for Stoke City as this is a very tough game against the league leaders who have won the last eight matches in succession against their visitors at Stamford Bridge over recent seasons.

Chelsea Team News:

John Obi Mikel is the only casualty for the hosts as he continues to receive treatment for a knee injury and Diego Costa could also be missing as he picked up a hamstring injury in the 3-2 victory over Hull City last time out and this could see Loic Remy thrust into the starting lineup to lead the attack up front for the hosts.

Stoke City Team News:

The visitors will be without the services of Victor Moses as he is ineligible to face his parent club, but the good news for Stoke City fans is that both Jonathan Walters and Marc Muniesa have both returned to the squad after minor injury related problems and both could be handed a place in the starting lineup.

Chelsea v Stoke City Head to Head Statistics:

Saturday evening’s fixture from Stamford Bridge will become the 70th meeting overall between the two clubs over the years. Chelsea have managed to secure 34 victories with 20 of those having came with home advantage where as Stoke City have managed to secure 20 victories with just 6 of those having came at Stamford Bridge.

Our head to head statistics table below shows the previous five matches played between the two clubs over recent season’s and as we can see it has been Chelsea who have completely dominated proceedings having won four with Stoke City having won just the once.

22/12/14 PRL Stoke City v Chelsea 0 : 2
05/04/14 PRL Chelsea v Stoke City 3 : 0
26/01/14 FAC Chelsea v Stoke City 1 : 0

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

198 Goals have been scored in the previous 69 matches played between the two clubs over the years and this provides us with an overall average goals per game statistic of 2.86.

104 of those Goals have came in the previous 35 matches played between the two clubs at Stamford Bridge and this generates us an average goal scoring statistic for this match of 2.97.

Both sets of data above would seem to suggest that this game on Saturday evening should see at least two or three goals scored and the total match goals and over 2.5 goals betting markets look of particular interest as a result.

Chelsea v Stoke City Match Betting Odds Market

Chelsea are the clear odds on favourites to win this game on Saturday evening and are currently a best price of just 3/10 with Stan James – £10 Free Bets for New Customers, which does seem very short indeed considering they have struggled in their last four league matches played.

The Draw has not happened in any of the last seven meetings between the two clubs and is an unlikely outcome in this game according to the current best price available of 5/1 with Bet365 – £200 Matched Bonus Bets for New Customers.

Stoke City are on the back of two defeats in succession in the league heading into this game and would really need to have the game of their season to win this game in my opinion and their current best price of 14/1 with BetVictor – £25 Free Bets for New Customers, does seem to reflect their chances.

Chelsea v Stoke City Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

Based on what both clubs have done so far this season everything suggests this being a home win for Chelsea as not only do they have a much better squad in every position on the field than Stoke City, their record at Stamford Bridge is a very strong one indeed as Stoke City have lost in all of their previous seven visits to the capital and with Mark Hughes’ side having lost their last two game on the bounce, those statistics don’t really look like changing when all is said and done come Saturday night.

The average goals per game statistics are expecting this match to see at least two or three goals scored, but I don’t think we will see many more than this, especially if Diego Costa is unavailable for this game due to his recent hamstring problem.

However, I do expect the hosts to win this game in quite comfortable fashion and I can possibly see them scoring at least once at some point during the game what with Diouf, Crouch and Walters having scored 22 goals between the so far this season in the league.

As such my Banker Prediction for this game is going to be for the inform Eden Hazard to Score at Anytime during the match as Stan James have this available at very good odds indeed and this does look value for this game what with the Belgium Ace having scored 11 times this season in the league.

My Saver is going to be Both Teams to Score & Chelsea to Win as I would the hosts to be too strong for Stoke City the longer this game goes on and as previously mentioned I do think Stoke City could possibly muster up at least one goal in this game.
