Arsenal v Liverpool Preview, Premiership, Saturday 4th April 2015.

What an important game this has become with both Arsenal and Liverpool hoping to finish in the top four come the end of the season. Arsenal know that a home loss to Liverpool could spell potential disaster as Manchester United look n hope to take third place with them facing Aston Villa this weekend. A win will see Arsenal go into second position in the table although Manchester City will have a chance to take back the spot on Monday when they travel to Crystal Palace. A draw is a good result between these two side but will still see Arsenal slip to fourth if Manchester United win when they kick off at 3pm. Arsenal have won their last six Premiership games although did see themselves knocked out of the Champions League recently when they lost 33 on aggregate against French side Monaco, what hurts the most is they were knocked out by the away goal ruling.

Liverpool were in exceptional form before they met Manchester United at Anfield before the international break. Manchester United took goal lead in the first half with a well taken Mata goal, only for Steven Gerrard to be sent off in under a minute when coming on at half time. Juan Mata then went on to score another with a spectacular bicycle kick yet we did see Liverpool pull one back when Daniel Sturridge rifled one in past David de Gea. This will be an extremely tough test for Liverpool with Arsenal in such great form, yet a win it must be if they are in hope of a top four finish. Next week Liverpool travel to Blackburn Rovers for the FA Cup replay, after drawing the home tie at Anfield with no goals scored. Liverpool are now five points behind Manchester United who are in fourth themselves and a loss to Arsenal could spell disaster for their top four finish.

Arsenal Team News:

Arsenal are without five important first team players for this encounter, although they are seemingly coping just fine with what options they have. Mesut Ozil is missing with an illness while Diaby is still out due to his calf. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is out due to his hamstring while Arteta has an ankle issue. last of all is full back Debuchy who has been out for some time with his shoulder.

Liverpool Team News:

Liverpool are missing two players due to suspension, with both players receiving bans due to stamping on Manchester United players. Steven Gerrard was on the pitch for under a minute when he stamped on Anders Herrera, while Skrtel earned his ban after the match due to video evidence of him stamping on goalkeeper David de Gea. Jose Enrique is missing with a knee injury while fullback John Flanagan is still out with his hamstring.

Arsenal v Liverpool Head to Head Statistics:

In the last five head to head encounters we can see it is Arsenal who come out on top with two victories, where Liverpool have just the once. The two have also drawn twice in the last five. In total we have 183 games played out between the two clubs with both teams equal with 67 wins each. We have also seen the two draw on 49 occasions in the past.

Arsenal are the home side and also the bookmakers favourites to win the game Saturday lunchtime. Arsenal v Liverpool Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

Premiership action kicks off again this Saturday with a massive fixture between two of the Premierships biggest clubs. We see third place Arsenal take on fifth placed Liverpool at The Emirates with the game being played live on BT Sports 1 High Definition. With the international break now out of the way we will start to see some dramatic fixtures played out between sides looking to finish in a Champions League position as well as sides looking to avoid relegation into the Championship.

Liverpool were in great form before welcoming Manchester United to Anfield before the international break, they were dominated for a majority of the match and even see themselves drop down to ten men after club captain see red after being on the pitch less than a minute. Arsenal themselves are in great form and although they are now out of the Champions League they still have a chance of finishing high in the table as well as retaining the FA Cup trophy after beating Manchester United 2 – 1 at Old Trafford.

My predictions for this fixture will see Arsenal win the game with the other being a draw of some sort. I am in belief that Arsenal could win the game 2 – 1 on the day as Liverpool are missing a number of key players including Steven Gerrard. Granted Arsenal are also missing a handful of important players which does lead me down the path of selecting both teams to score and for the game to end as a draw, making it their 50th draw in total.
