Nottingham Forest v Aston Villa Preview, Championship, 4th February 2017.

With both clubs struggling for wins right now it is hard to say which way the win will go on Saturday at The City ground. Nottingham Forest are the better team in form as they have at least won a couple of games recently with them beating Bristol City and Rotherham United in the Championship. Although only a draw their best result was against Birmingham City who are higher than them in the table.

This fixture and the next four will be critical for Nottingham City as they face three teams who are far up above them in the league table. They have Norwich City, Fulham and Sheffield Wednesday and winning any points against these teams would be a massive bonus. They could take full points on Saturday against Aston Villa, and could also beat Wigan Athletic who themselves are also struggling.

Aston Villa seriously need to get back to winning ways because their chances of bouncing straight back into the Premiership are diminishing by the weeks. With three loses and a draw in the Championships in the last four games they have then also been knocked out of the FA Cup when they faced Tottenham Hotspurs. Although at least now they can concentrate on getting their form intact and work themselves up the table.

The club have two sides that are below them in the next five games and if they cant produce wins there then they will have little chances of earning some points against Barnsley, Newcastle United and Derby County. The club are just eleven points off of the relegation drop and also ten points adrift the promotion play-offs. Which way they will head this Saturday is no clearer than previously as they still search for a win.

Nottingham Forest Team News :

Defender Matt Mills (groin) is Gary Brazil’s only main injury worry for the game on Saturday although Joao Teixiera, Zach Clough and Gboly Ariyibi could make their debuts since signing on in the January transfer window. Ross McCormack and Aaron Tshibola will not make their Nottingham Forest debuts on Saturday as they are both ineligible with Aston Villa the players parent club and them being on loan.

Aston Villa Team News :

Gabby Agbonlahor will be out for some time after recently tearing his hamstring. This now paves the way for new £12 million pound signing Hogan who will no doubt now start. Mile Jedinak is also out although Tommy Elphick is expected to make a return.

Although Nottingham Forest have the better form it is Aston Villa who are slightly higher in the league table. The game is very equal here for Saturdays game although I feel it is the home side who will just steal the three points come the end of the match. They are the better team in form with the best odds on them winning seen below.

Nottingham Forest v Aston Villa Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

Championship action this weekend brings us Nottingham Forest against Aston Villa at The City ground with both sides in serious need of a win. They both linger down the bottom half of the table with Aston Villa slightly above them with the three extra important points. That gap could however be cut on Saturday which is surely in Nottingham Forests favour seeing as though they are in slightly better form.

If Aston Villa do manage to win on Saturday it will break a run of terrible form with six games played with no win in all competitions. The clubs last win came back on Boxing Day of last year when they struggled to brush aside Burton Albion who are lingering close to the bottom. Draws to Leeds United and Preston North End have been the only points they have earned which is seriously not good enough if they wish to get promoted.

To be honest the game could go either way on Saturday I feel with neither of the two clubs actually playing decent football. Nottingham Forest are my favourites because at least they have won a couple of games recently. I do feel we could even see a draw looking at the two clubs history, and if that does happen then surely there will be plenty of goals scored on the day.

My predictions for this game is leaning towards the home win, with the other also favouring that of a draw. But then I do also have this niggling feeling that this could be Aston Villa’s day and finally earn themselves a much needed win. My banker will be for both teams to score and for the home side to win this game, with the other seeing Aston Villa to win the game 2 – 1 on the day instead of the draw.
