Reading v Queens Park Rangers Preview, Championship, Thursday 3rd December 2015

Reading head into this game on the back of a 3-1 defeat away against Nottingham Forest last weekend which has now seen them drop to 9th position in the championship league table. However the hosts do have a good record at home this season having lost just one of their nine matches played and will be hoping to put that defeat behind them with a victory on Thursday night.

Queens Park Rangers head into the game having beaten Leeds United 1-0 at home in their latest game that took place last weekend, striker Charlie Austin scoring that all important goal from the bench in his first game back since injury which has kept him on the sidelines in recent matches.

That result has now moved Queens Park Rangers up four places into 12th position of the league table and the confidence of the players and fans will no doubt be high as they prepare for this one, especially now that their main striker is available.

Reading Team News:

The hosts have almost a full squad available for this match but could be without their skipper Paul McShane who suffered a face injury in the defeat against Nottingham Forest last weekend. If he does miss the match then either Jake Cooper or Anton Ferdinand will deputise in his place. Garath McClearly also looks unlikely to feature so Vydra will probably start the match as the main striker up front.

Queens Park Rangers Team News:

The visitors also have almost a full squad available and will hopefully have their star player Chalrie Austin available from the start of this game. Tjarron Cherry could also feature in the starting lineup having impressed in the 1-0 victory against Leeds United last time out.

Reading v Queens Park Rangers Head to Head Statistics:

Thursday night’s game from the Madejski Stadium will become the 22nd meeting between the two clubs over the years, of which Reading have won 9 with 5 of those having came with home advantage where as Queens Park Rangers have managed 4 victories, with just 2 of those having came away from home.

As we can see from our head to head to head statistics table shown below, recent meetings between the two clubs shows Reading with a clear advantage over their visitors having won twice and the remaining three matches having finished all square.

16/02/14 CHA Queens Park Rangers – Reading 1 : 3
09/11/13 CHA Reading – Queens Park Rangers 1 : 1
28/04/13 PRL Reading – Queens Park Rangers 0 : 0
04/11/12 PRL Queens Park Rangers – Reading 1 : 1
26/09/12 LEC Queens Park Rangers – Reading 2 : 3

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

42 Goals have been scored in the previous 21 meetings between the two clubs and this provides us with an overall average goals per game statistic of exactly 2.00.

15 of those Goals have came in the 10 previous matches played at the Madejski Stadium and this generates us an average goal scoring statistic of 1.50.

Based on both sets of data shown above, it does seem to indicate that this game is unlikely to see more than a couple of goals scored on Thursday night and betting markets like Under 2.5 Goals and Both Teams to Score No looking the obvious choices.

Reading v Queens Park Rangers Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

Reading are really struggling at the moment and with just one win in their last seven league matches played it does seem to suggest that something is not quite right at the club and for me the hosts look worth taking on here as Queens Park Rangers obtained a very good result last weekend when beating Leeds United 1-0 and with Charlie Austin now back involved having missed a number of games for his club over recent weeks, the current odds on an away win here does look the value play.

However, before we get carried away with that victory Queens Park Rangers achieved last weekend we must not forget that although Reading are not having a great time of it at the moment by any means, they have only lost one game at home this season from their nine matches played and due to this factor it could be a sensible option to cover the draw here.

As such my Banker Free Tip for this match is going to be for Queens Park Rangers Draw No Bet as although I don’t see them losing this one, with Reading having such strong home form statistics, I think covering the draw is a sensible option.

My First Goalscorer Free Tip is going to be none other than Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin to score the first goal of the game as for me this player should really be playing in the premiership as he has already proved that he can score goals in the top flight and I would expect him to get his name on the score-sheet again in this game.
