Monaco v Juventus Preview, Champions League, Semi Final 1st Leg, 3rd May 2017

Monaco head into this game with plenty of confidence having came through their quarter final showdown against Borussia Dortmund 6-3 on aggregate and with home advantage in this semi final 1st leg match, the hosts will be looking for nothing less than a victory to take over to Turin for the 2nd leg next week.

Monaco have had a great season so far on the domestic front and currently lead the way at the top of the French Ligue 1 table by 3pts from second place PSG. Some strong signings during the summer last year have certainly paid off for the club this season and there is no real reason why they couldn’t go all the way and win this tournament.

Juventus head into the game brimming with confidence after an emphatic 3-0 victory on aggregate against the mighty Barcelona and that result has certainly seen a lot of people sit up and take notice. Many expected Barcelona to turn around their 3-0 defecit picked up in the 1st leg over in Turin in the 2nd leg at the famous Nou Camp, but Juventus defended like machines and fully deserve to have made it through the tie.

The visitors are also having an excellent season on their domestic front and like their hosts, they also lead the way at the top of their Serie A league table and are just one victory away from securing yet another league title. Juventus showed great character during their quarter final showdown against Barcelona and for me they are the certainly the side to beat in this tournament.

Midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko is a doubt for Monaco due to a broken nose suffered in a training ground accident with team-mate Glik.

Juventus will be without defender Daniele Rugani due to a knee injury and midfielder Sami Khedira, who is serving a one-game suspension.

Monaco v Juventus Head to Head Statistics:

Wednesday night’s game from the Stade Louis II will become the 2nd meeting between the two clubs over the years, of which Monaco have won 0 times overall with 0 of those victories having came with home advantage.

Juventus have managed to secure 1 victory overall with 0 of those having came away from home but with Monaco having looked very strong at home this season in both their league and this tournament, Juventus do look to be in for a very difficult game.

As we can see from our head to head to head statistics table shown below, the last two recent meetings shows Juventus with a slight advantage having won one game, compared to Monacao having won none and the remaining match having finished all square.

Monaco v Juventus Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

A real heavyweight contest against two of the best sides in the tournament. Monaco have had no problems scoring goals either at home or away during their route to this semi final stage and with 18 year striker Kylian Mbappe who has scored an impressive 18 goals in his last 18 games the Juventus defence will have to be as good as ever if they are once again to keep a clean sheet.

Juventus have been rock solid at the back during their route to this semi final stage of the tournament and with even the mighty Barcelona having failed to score past them in two attempts, that sort of form will no doubt have every single Monaco player and fan slightly concerned about their chances in this game.

Up front Juventus have Gonazalo Higuain but with just two goals from 24 champions league knock out matches those statistics certainly won’t have the Monaco defence that concerned.

A mouth watering match in prospect and on paper one that has the potential of going either way on the night, but with Juventus just oozing class at the back, they should be good enough to take at least a draw back to Turin for the second leg next week.

Onto some predictions then and my Banker Free Tip for this game is going to be for The Draw as with just one goal in the previous two meetings between the two clubs, this match looks like being a very close affair and Juventus would be more than happy to return home with a draw from this one.

My First Goalscorer Free Tip for this game will be for Monaco striker Kylian Mbappe to Score the 1st Goal of the Game as although he is still very young, his statistics speak volumes and he will be relishing the chance to become his side’s hero on Wednesday night in front of his home fans.
