Chelsea v Crystal Palace Preview, Premiership, Sunday 3rd May 2015

Chelsea can wrap up the Premiership league title on Sunday afternoon at Stamford Bridge with a victory over Crystal Palace and with a sell out crowd expected, I fully expect Jose Mourinho’s side to to make it title number five.

Crystal Palace are relatively safe from relegation but do still need at least another 4pts to completely guarantee their survival, but it does look unlikely that Alan Pardew’s side will get any from this game as with two defeats in their last two games the confidence of the squad is obviously a bit low at the moment and it would come as a major shock to see Palace getting anything out of this one and spoil Chelsea’s party.

Chelsea Team News:

The hosts will continue to be without Diego Costa for this game as he still is not 100% fit having recovered from a recent injury and if his side to manage to secure the title on Sunday afternoon, it does look likely that the Spanish striker will miss the rest of the season as a result.

Loic Remy has now fully recovered from a calf problem and he should start this game up front due to Diego Costa’s absence. Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois will return in goal having fully recovered from a minor hip problem.

Crystal Palace Team News:

The visitors have no confirmed injuries for this game but Campbell, Chamakh, Ward, Thomas and Ledley are doubtful as they all continue to recover from minor injuries. Zaha, Murray and Gayle look likely to spearhead the attack up front.

Chelsea v Crystal Palace Head to Head Statistics:

Saturday evening’s fixture from Stamford Bridge will become the 27th meeting overall between the two clubs over the years. Chelsea have managed to secure 14 victories with 7 of those having came with home advantage where as Crystal Palace have managed to secure just the 3 victories with none having came at Stamford Bridge.

Our head to head statistics table below shows the previous five matches played between the two clubs over recent season’s and as we can see it has been Chelsea who have dominated proceedings having won 4 times with Crystal Palace having managed just the 1 victory.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

In the 26 previous games that have taken place overall between these two clubs we have seen a total of 68 goals scored and this provides us with an average goals per game statistic of 2.61.

35 of those Goals have been scored in the previous 12 matches played between the two clubs at Stamford Bridge and this generates us an average goal scoring statistic for this game of 2.92.

Both sets of data would suggest that this game is likely to see between 2 or 3 goals scored on Sunday afternoon in the capital.

Chelsea v Crystal Palace Match Betting Odds Market

Chelsea are the clear favourites to win this game on Sunday afternoon which should not come as much of a surprise considering their form this season and the fact that they have never lost against Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge and are a current best price of 4/11 with BetVictor – £25 Free Bets for New Customers.

The Draw has not been a common result seen when these two sides have met each other over recent season’s, but for those that do believe a draw is a possible outcome, they can enjoy very generous odds of 9/2 with Paddy Power – Bet £10 & Receive £30 Free Bets for New Customers.

Crystal Palace are not expected to get anything from this game and with having lost their last two games on the bounce, it really would come as a major shock to see the visitors win this one as their current best price of 9/1 with Coral – Deposit £5 & Receive £20 Free Bets for New Customers, clearly reflects.

Chelsea v Crystal Palace Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

Chelsea have a chance to secure the Premiership title in front of their home fans with a victory in this game on Sunday afternoon against Crystal Palace and every player in blue that takes to the pitch will be raring to go and Crystal Palace could be in for a very difficult afternoon indeed.

Chelsea have secured the services of some of the very best players in the world of football at the moment and it will come as a huge disapointment to their fans what with Diego Costa looking unlikely to feature in this game.

Crystal Palace need 4pts to secure safety and remain in the top flight and I do expect them to be playing Premiership football next season despite probably losing this game, but that’s not to say that the players will not be looking to spoil the Chelsea party and if they can rediscover their form shown prior to their two latest defeats, they do have an outside chance of getting at least something from this game.

My banker prediction for this game is going to be Chelsea Half Time/Full Time as I really can’t see Chelsea messing this great chance to secure the title in front of their home fans.

My Saver is going to be for Loic Remy to Score First Goal of the Match as he will be keen to impress his manager after having been out for a few weeks with injury.
