Aston Villa v West Bromwich Albion Preview, Premiership, Tuesday 3rd March 2015.

Predictions seem to be coming in wrong when it comes down to new manager Tim Sherwood turning things around for Aston Villa straight from the off. The ex Tottenham Hotspurs manager will need a lot more time than just a couple of games to turn Aston Villa into a team worthy of staying in the Premiership. Two loses in the league in a row now sees Aston Villa in the relegation zone and only four points off the bottom position. With just eleven league game left to play could we see Aston Villa drop down into the Championships for the first time in my memory. Surprisingly enough though we do still see the Midlands club battling away in the FA Cup with them also due to play West Bromwich Albion again twice in one week.

West Bromwich Albion were, like Aston Villa, one of the teams I myself predicted to take the plunge down into the Championships come the end of the season. Yet West Brom seem to have turned things around under the new management of Tony Pulis and have now won three and drawn two in their last five fixtures. This does also include the FA Cup win over West Ham United which has now set them up to play Aston Villa away again twice in one week with the competition fixtures to be played at the weekend. We see West Bromwich Albion record a great win over Southampton this weekend which has now seen them rise up to thirteenth and a whole eight points away from the relegation battle below them.

Aston Villa Team News:

Aston Villa have four injured players missing for this fixture. These include Aly Cissokho (knock), Kieran Richardson (calf), Nathan Baker (knock) and Libor Kozak (broken leg). Goals are coming very rarely right now with the club having only scored thirteen in the Premiership all season long, and sees their top scorers Andreas Weimann and Gabriel Agbonlahor only scoring three each.

West Bromwich Albion Team News:

West Bromwich Albion are close to a full healthy squad, and only have the one injury right now being the Nigerian Victor Anichebe who has a groin strain. The club have scored close to twice as many league goals as their opponents and top scorer Saido Berahino has scored a majority with eleven league goals.

Aston Villa v West Bromwich Albion Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

This midweek fixture will see home side Aston Villa welcome West Bromwich Albion who both get to play each other again in the FA Cup Quarter Finals. This Premiership game however can be seen live on BT Sports 1 High Definition with a kick off time of 19:45. After looking at the last five head to head encounters we could be in for a game of either plenty of goals or just one of two.

Aston Villa right now are a side in terrible form and have only won once in their last five games, with the remaining four all Premiership loses. We were expecting their last two games to be better results seeing as how they are under the new management of Tim Sherwood. Yet that doesn’t seem to have happened and bookmakers are setting some good odds for Aston Villa to once again come up with a loss, even though they are the slight favourites. West Bromwich Albion are a team in much better form with them winning three and drawing twice in their last five. It has seen them climb up to thirteenth, where as Villa drop down to nineteenth and only four points adrift the bottom.

My predictions for this game will not favour that of which the bookmakers are, as I just don’t see Aston Villa winning the game without any prolific goalscorers on their books. having scored only thirteen league goals all season is something of a terrible statistic and if they do wish to survive the drop then goals must start going in however they can. So for the first I am going to go for a West Bromwich Albion win of 2 – 0. The other will be a score draw, and for that I will go for both teams to score and draw the game.
