Manchester United v Cambridge United Preview, FA Cup 4th Round Replay, Tuesday 3rd February 2015

Manchester United struggled to see off Cambridge United at the R Costings Abbey Stadium a couple of weeks ago when the league two side managed to hold on to a 0-0 draw to secure this replay at Old Trafford which will be a big payday for the club, but with Manchester United having comfortably beat Leicester City over the weekend, it doesn’t seem likely that Louis van Gaal’s side will have too many problems securing their name in the hat for the 5th round draw.

Cambridge United will obviously believe that they can something from this game having secured that excellent 0-0 draw at home against the Premiership giants, but with a 3-2 defeat at home against Luton Town over the weekend, the confidence of the players will certainly have taken a bit of a hit and if Manchester United grab an early goal in this game, the score-line could get quite ugly for the league two outfit.

Manchester United Team News:

Michael Carrick and Ashley Young are still unavailable for manager Louis Van Gaal for this one as both continue to receive treatment for respective injury related problems. Jonny Evans and Chris Smalling have both returned back to training with the squad having now fully recovered from their recent injuries and both could feature in the starting lineup on Tuesday night.

Cambridge United Team News:

Liam Hughes and Harrison Dunk remain unavailable for the visitors as they both continue to receive treatment for related injury problems. Tom Elliot and Robbie Simpson could be the likely pairing up front.

Manchester United v Cambridge United Head to Head Statistics:

Only two previous meetings before Tuesday night’s replay and it sees Manchester United with the clear advantage having won 1 and drew 1, with Cambridge United having failed to win any of the previous two encounters.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

5 Goals have been scored in the only other 2 previous meetings between the two clubs over the years and this generates us an average goals per game statistic of 2.50 and with this replay now being played on perfect pitch in a huge stadium, I would expect to see this game see at least 2 or 3 goals scored on Tuesday night.

Manchester United Match Betting Odds Market

Manchester United are the clear odds on favourites to win this game which should not come as much of a surprise to anyone as with home advantage and a good win over the weekend, Louis Van Gaal’s side should win this one quite comfortably as their current best price of  1/11 with Betfred – Deposit and Bet £10 & Receive £30 Free Bets when You Register a New Account clearly reflects.

The Draw did happen a couple of weeks ago at the R Costings Abbey Stadium, but that was a massive shock result and very unlikely to happen again this time around which the current best price of 12/1 with Bet365 – £200 Matched Bonus Bets for New Customers, suggests.

Cambridge United conceded three goals at home against Luton Town over the weekend and will do well not to concede more in this game against premiership giant’s Manchester United and their current best price of a massive 40/1 with BetVictor – £25 Free Bets for New Customers, clearly indicates their chances really.

Manchester United v Cambridge United Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

Manchester United will certainly be out to prove a point in this game as the embarrassment of only securing a 0-0 draw at the R Costings Abbey Stadium would of been very difficult for the players to cope with and I fully expect a strong looking United side make ammends with ease in front of their home fans and the BT Sports camera’s on Tuesday night.

Cambridge United might of came into this game with hopes high if they had not been beaten at home 3-2 by Luton Town over the weekend and that defeat will surely have sucked all the energy and belief from the players as the prepare to play at one of the biggest and most popular stadiums in the world.

No real stats to go on here from previous goals between the two clubs as they have only ever met each other twice, but with United having home advantage and where they play their best football, I would expect the hosts to score at least 2 or 3 in this one and then maybe take the foot off the accelerator and have the Cambridge United players chasing shadows.

Finding some value on this game is pretty much impossible due to huge odds on price that United are to win this game with the online bookmakers, but with the possibility of a few goals being scored my Banker prediction for this game is for Manchester United to Win Both Halves as this is currently priced up at very reasonable odds that for me look good value.

My Saver is going to be for the game to finish either 2-0 or 3-0 as I really can’t see the visitors getting close to troubling the United keeper in this game.
