Chelsea v Tottenham Hotspur Preview, Premiership, Monday 2nd May 2016.

With Leicester City being made wait to lift the Premiership trophy could it be down to Chelsea to further upset title chasing Tottenham Hotspurs after they thought it was all over when they drew last week against West Bromwich Albion. To be honest I am not sure Chelsea have it in them to beat this Spurs side right now, as they are by far the best footballing side within the twenty teams currently plying their trade in the top English flight.

Chelsea did exceptionally well last week when they managed to win a healthy 4 – 1 away from home to new comers AFC Bournemouth. They took an early lead via Pedro in the 5th minute and then just after the half hour mark you could of thought it would be all over when Eden Hazard added a second. Yet two minutes late Elphick pulled one back and the nerves were showing as Chelsea headed into the tunnel at half time. Two second half goals for Chelsea however sealed the three points.

With a hugely disappointing result for Londoners Tottenham Hotspurs last weekend, you could clearly see that the draw against West Bromwich Albion spelled defeat for the title chasing side. But hope has been slightly restored for Spurs when Leicester City failed to beat Manchester United at Old Trafford, and instead still require either a win or a minimum of two draws in their remaining two games. Tottenham Hotspurs will need to win all three of the remaining fixtures they have and live in hope that The Foxes once again slip up against Everton and Chelsea.

That said a win here at Stamford Bridge wont be an easy task especially if they bottled it at home against West Brom last week. They will need to clear their heads and install belief once more and only play for the win come Monday night. They will then need to beat a Southampton side who managed to beat Manchester City on Sunday, and then finish off at Newcastle United who are playing for their right to stay in the Premier League and avoid relegation.

Chelsea Team News:

Chelsea welcome back John Terry and Gary Cahill as they look to install some normality back to the clubs defense, although I can’t see Terry starting on Monday night after he has missed ten of the last twelve games played due to his hamstring and achilles. Cahill only missed the last game due to an illness. Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is suspended and Kurt Zouma (knee) and striker Loic Remy (groin) are Chelsea’ only long term injuries.

Tottenham Hotspur Team News:

We did see midfielder Eric Dier suffer a knock to the head and concussion when the side played West Bromwich Albion last week and his fate wont be decided until late on Sunday. Deli Alli is of course suspended after receiving a three match ban for violent conduct and Tottenham Hotspurs only major injury worry is that of Nabil Bentaleb who has a bad knee.

Chelsea v Tottenham Hotspur Head to Head Statistics:

In the last five games played against each other we have seen Chelsea pretty much dominate with three home wins and two away fixtures ending as a loss and a draw. Incredibly so the last time Tottenham Hotspurs won away from home to a Chelsea team was way back in 1990 which ended 2 – 1 so the odds on them breaking that record are extremely slim. Chelsea have won on 58 occasions with Spurs winning 44. Leaving the two sides earning a total of 32 draws.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

In the 136 games played out against each other we have seen a total of 399 goals scored. This is going to give us a goals per game average of 2.9 which as you can see above is very likely to be hit and miss when these two meet on Monday night. I feel the below option for this game could be a good one to go for.

Chelsea it has to be said have been dreadful this season. How can a side go from complete dominance and with winning the Premiership, and now lucky if they manage to finish mid-table come the end of the season. Previously I would of said Spurs will struggle against Chelsea, but in all seriousness I can hand on heart truly see Spurs beating the home side this coming Monday.

Chelsea may well be at home this Monday night, but are not considered the favourites to win this game against Tottenham Hotspurs. The bookmakers are fancying that of title chasing Spurs, with the current Champions potentially being brushed aside. The Draw is a strong possibility on Monday night and will of course end all hopes of Spurs winning the Premiership this season. I do believe a draw is a good option for this game yet can’t help but think an away win is more likely to be on the cards. Chelsea v Tottenham Hotspur Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

Monday Night Premier League action see’s home side Chelsea welcome Tottenham Hotspurs to the Bridge as they look to continue to build on last weekends win against AFC Bournemouth and look to climb as high as they can after such a disappointing season. Of course Chelsea do have the incredible history hear and have not lost at home to a Tottenham Hotspurs side since way back in 1990. Yet can this shaky Chelsea side continue keeping up that solid record with the way they have played all season?

Chelsea still have four games left to play this season and could still finish as high as sixth in the league. That would of course require the four teams above them to lose all of their remaining games if that is at all possible depending on who has who left. They are currently in a dismal tenth position and I feel finishing in eight is a more realistic target. This would of course depend on Southampton losing their remaining two games which could be a miracle especially after they smashed Manchester City 4 – 2 on Sunday.

Well basically it is a must win game for Tottenham Hotspurs if they want to keep faith that this side can continue and amazingly so mange to grasp that Premier League title away from Leicester City who only managed a draw at Old Trafford this Sunday. Celebrations were on hold as The Foxes are made to wait another week and also see Spurs cling on to whatever hope there is that the league leaders manage to lose their remaining games against Everton and Chelsea.

Tottenham Hotspurs have in my eyes been the best team in the league all season. Now I know they are not top, but look at the football this side have been playing. They definitely deserve to win the league in my opinion, although lets not take it away from Leicester City who themselves have been exceptional all season. If Spurs had won last weekend against West Bromwich Albion the Mondays result will of course still need to be a win, yet they would of been in higher spirits coming into this venue that has been nothing but a fortress against them.

My predictions for this game does back that of Tottenham Hotspurs to win the match as they continue to believe that they can force Leicester City into making mistakes and potentially lose their remaining two games. For this I am going to go for a banker of Tottenham Hotspurs to win and that’s it. No other special options, just the basic win. The next I am going for is for the draw. Now for this I am going to take both teams to score and to draw the match.
