PSG v Real Madrid Preview, Club Friendly, Thursday 2nd January 2014

Paris st Germain have had a few bad results recently and in the last four league games have dropped four points which has allowed other title chasers that little bit of hope with Monaco now only three points behind. PSG would of hoped not to of dropped points against third placed Lille just before Christmas as they too are now catching with only four points between them. Better news however is that the French Champions are through to the next stage of the Champions League having won Group C, even though they did lose their last group match to Benfica they still qualified top with three points to spare.

Real Madrid are in fine form right now and head into this friendly having not lost in twelve games to date, they are however still chasing La Liga leaders Barcelona and Atletico Madrid who are both currently five points clear. The only two games Real Madrid have lost this season in the league are to both of the sides above them in this exciting title race. The game on Thursday will be an exciting spectacle for any neutral and club fan as these two giants clash once more in an attempt to show who is the dominant force of Europe. Although for me it is still the German Champions Bayern Munich who are the team to beat with them winning last years Bundesliga and Champions League trophy.

PSG v Real Madrid Team News

PSG News:

French Champions PSG are without Christophe Jallet with a calf strain and will unlikely feature in any of their games for the next three weeks as he recovers. We also see the Brazilian Maxwell sit this one out after nursing some sore ribs he picked up during training last month and again will unlikely feature in any games for a few weeks. We should see goal machines Cavani and Ibrahimovic start and between the pair have notched up an incredible twenty seven goals so far in all competitions.

Real Madrid News

Real Madrid are without a few players who all picked up injuries in the November month, with Frenchman Raphael Varane out with a knee injury I can imagine he will be upset not featuring in this game in his home country. We also have Fabio Coentrao out with a sprained ankle but could return in time and then sadly the only long term injury setback is German star Sami Khedira who is nursing a crucial knee ligament injury. New signing Gareth Bale missed the game against Valencia with a knock but should be available for selection on Thursday.

PSG v Real Madrid Head to Head Statistics

This game will be the 2nd time these two giant of teams have met with what records I can find and the favor is in the Spanish side Real Madrid who have already played away from home and won earlier this year. Things are not much different when these two do face each other on Thursday but I can see French Champions PSG looking to even the results with a win of their own.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

With only 1 head to head statistic to go on it doesn’t give us much of an average with only 1 goal scored between the pair. But with Thursdays game to come we will hopefully see a few goals fly in and I am sure in the future these two will face each other a lot more either in a club friendly or in the champions League stages.

PSG v Real Madrid Recent Form (Left to Right)

PSG: D W W L W

Real Madrid: W W D W D

If we are going on the last 5 games played then the advantage is in Real Madrid’s court as they have had no loses where as the French Champions have. Even if we went 10 games in PSG have lost another but this time in the Ligue 1 away from home to Evian TG. PSG however are sitting top of their league with 3 points clear and a very healthy goal difference where as Real Madrid are trailing behind Barcelona and Atletico Madrid in 3rd position.

PSG v Real Madrid Match Betting Odds Market.

PSG may be at home for this match but have recently lost a couple of games they shouldn’t have so bookmakers have set their opponents as favourites. With the best odds coming in @ 13/5 with BetVictor – £25 Free Bets For New Customers Registering an Account.

The Draw could be an option as both teams have the potential to score and cancel each other out, and we have the best odds here @ 5/2 with Ladbrokes – £50 Free Bets when Registering a New Account.

Real Madrid are favourites for this game having not lost in the last 12 games, and also beat PSG away from home last year in a 1 – 0 result. So the best odds are currently coming in @ 1/1 with BetVictor – £25 Free Bets For New Customers Registering an Account.

PSG v Real Madrid Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

I can see this game being a very exciting one, with both teams wanting to win this match. We have PSG looking to become a dominant force in Europe with new billionaire owners spending big and bringing in some fantastic names to the club, and they will be looking to get some revenge for already losing in a club friendly last year where the game ended 1 – 0 in Real Madrid’s favor. The Spanish giants however will be looking to just turn up and do their business as they look to extend their unbeaten run to 13 games in all competitions and I can seriously see them doing such with the way Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale are playing.

So lets get down to some predictions for Thursdays club friendly, we all know that although the game last year finished 1 – 0 there is potentially a lot of goals in both of these sides. With PSG’s front two firing 27 goals so far between them surely they can grab a couple between them? Then you have Cristiano Ronaldo with 18 goals in 16 games which is an incredible record to note and fear. We then have Frenchman Benzema on 8 goals in 16 and Gareth Bale now on 7 goals in 10 games which is proving to be a deadly partnership of some of the most exciting players in the world.

So my first prediction will be for PSG to go in front and for Real Madrid to then win the game which is possible with the way PSG score so freely, and Madrid don’t exactly have the tightest of defenses and usually rely on out scoring their opponents. The other I am going for is a correct score guess, now I know the last game as mentioned only had 1 goal in it. But I really do see this game having some excitement with a fair few goals scored so plan to take a 3 – 2 win by the Spanish Giants.
