Southampton v Bournemouth Preview, Premiership, Sunday 1st November 2015

Southampton head into this game having started the new season quite well and will definitely see this match as one they can win having remained unbeaten in their last four league matches and with a 3-1 victory away against Chelsea being one of those games both the players and the fans will be confident of adding another 3pts to their tally.

Bournemouth head into the game having conceded ten goals in their previous two league matches and although they did only lose 1-0 against Liverpool in the league cup midweek, it does seem like the players confidence has hit an all time low and with the long list of injuries to key players, I just don’t see them being able to cope with this Southampton side on Sunday afternoon.

Southampton Team News:

A number of injuries for the hosts as Shane Long (ankle) and Jay Rodriguez (foot) are unavailable, while Fraser Forster and Florin Gardos (both knee) are long-term absentees.

Bournemouth Team News:

The visitors will be missing Tommy Elphick (foot)  who is likely to be out for another month, with Max Gradel, Tyrone Mings and Callum Wilson (all knee) not expected to return until the spring.

Southampton v Bournemouth Head to Head Statistics:

Sunday afternoon’s game from St Mary’s Stadium will become only the 5th meeting between the two clubs over the years. Southampton have won 4 times overall, with 2 of those having come with home advantage where as Bournemouth have failed to win any.

The previous 4 meetings below in our head to head statistics table show Southampton having a clear advantage having won 4 times compared to Bournemouth having failed to win any.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

9 Goals have been scored in the previous 4 meetings between the two clubs and this provides us with an overall average goals per game statistic of 2.25.

4 of those Goals have came in the 2 previous matches played at St Mary’s Stadium and this generates us an average goal scoring statistic of exactly 2.00.

Based on both sets of data shown above, it does seem to indicate that this game should see a minimum of at least two goals scored and betting markets like Total Match Goals 2 or 3 and Both Teams to Score look the best places to concentrate on.

Southampton v Bournemouth Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

Southampton seem to be putting together a good run of results in recent weeks and I fully expect them to continue that trend with victory against struggling Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon.

Graziano Pelle and Saido Mane have scored eight goals between them in the league so far this season and both look likely to start this game up front at the expense of Shane Long who will again have to be happy with a place on the bench and with Southampton having two good players in great goal scoring form at the moment the hosts should prove too strong and pick up the 3pts from this one.

Bournemouth started the new season really well and have certainly had some good results against sides that maybe most people would not of expected, but with the side now having to cope with a number of injury related problems to some of their key players that were involved in those results I just can’t see the visitors returning back home to the south coast with anything from this game.

Onto some predictions then and my Banker Free Tip is going to be for Southampton to Win as although they are slightly odds on with the online bookmakers I still feel these odds represent good value for those big hitters out there who will see this as a real chance to pick up some free money.

My First Goalscorer Free Tip is going to be Graziano Pelle as he is the current top goalscorer for Southampton this season with five goals and he will certainly be in the mood to add more goals to that tally going up against a defence that has shipped ten times in their last two league games.
