Monaco v Tottenham Hotspurs Preview, Europa League, Thursday 1st October 2015.

It’s been an up and down season so far for French outfit Monaco who currently sit as low as ninth position in Ligue 1, and as they are meant to be that team to challenge PSG’s domestic dominance they are clearly somewhat off that mark. Their first Europa League group game was away to Anderlecht in which Monaca went 1 – 0 down early on just after ten minutes. With just five minutes remaining of the ninety minutes Lacina Traore equalized grabbing his side a well earned draw. If Monaco manage a win at home against the London based club, then it will leave them in a good position for when they welcome Qarabag to France at the end of the month.

Tottenham Hotspurs didn’t start last week very well when they crashed out of the Capital One Cup 2 – 1 against bitter rivals Arsenal. Although then did complete the unthinkable when they humiliated Manchester City 4 – 1 at White Hart Lane, and what makes it sweeter for Spurs is that Harry Kane finally scored in the Premiership this season. This fixture will be a tough one for Spurs, who last year did very well in the group stages having qualified for the knockout stages. They have some other tough fixtures coming up, including the away trip to Swansea City as well as Liverpool at home. Only to then also face Anderlecht come the end of the month in another group stage Europa League fixture.

Monaco Team News:

With the Monaco side having changed dramatically since last season when they dumped Arsenal out of the Champions League we should see Spurs have an easier time than their rivals. Monaco’s only major injury doubt is that of Joao Moutinho who has so far only made three league appearances this season, which should allow Italian striker Stephan El Shaarawy to lead from the front after signing on a season long loan from Milan.

Tottenham Hotspur Team News:

Tottenham Hotspurs have a few injuries right now, with the more worrying being that of midfielder Ryan Mason with his knee. Nabil Bentaleb is also out of the selection process as he still recovers from an ankle ligament injury. Moussa Dembele also has an ankle injury, although far less serious than that of Bentaleb. Heung-Min Son is extremely doubtful having picked up a foot injury in the win against Man City.

Monaco v Tottenham Hotspurs Head to Head Statistics:

The clubs made their first appearance against each other a couple of years back when the two featured against each other during pre-season. The game was played in France which did see the home side Monaco come out easy winners. However since summer they have been a different team having let go a number of big named stars, allowing Tottenham Hotspurs in with a far better chance of victory.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

There is only one game to go on when it comes down to looking at the goals per game average, granted right now it sits at an all time high of 7, which as you can imagine wouldn’t be top of the list when coming down to placing a bet. I would be more inclined to go with the below selection, as it has a far higher probability of coming in.

Monaco v Tottenham Hotspur Recent Form All Competitions (Left to Right)

Monaco: D W L D W

Tottenham Hotspur: W L W W W

London club Tottenham Hotspurs are by far the better team in form here having won four out of their last five fixtures in all competitions. Monaco are seriously lacking and sitting in a dismal ninth position, something that is unacceptable for the club who have invested millions.

Monaco v Tottenham Hotspurs Match Betting Odds Market

Monaco with them being at home are of course considered the bookmakers favourites to come away with a win Thursday night, but I can imagine only doing so if they start to grab some much needed confidence and winning mentality. Best odds on the home win seen coming in here @ 5/4 with Coral – Bet £5 & Get £20 Free when Registering a New Account.

The Draw I feel could very well be a solid option for Thursdays game, especially as Tottenham Hotspurs are in a good run of form, and could take advantage of Monaco’s form issues. Tottenham Hotspur are in great form right now although we must exclude the 2 – 1 loss to Arsenal in the Capital One Cup. They have recently thrashed Manchester City and it sees their odds of winning here in France drop with bookmakers unsure of the London clubs chances. Monaco v Tottenham Hotspur Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

Europa League action this Thursday comes to us live via BT Sports Europe channel and can be viewed in High Definition in the beautiful South of France. The sun however should have set by the time Tottenham Hotspurs walk out onto Monaco’s pitch in hopes of an away win which will be no easy feat to achieve. Monaco will know of their opponents recent humiliation of Manchester City in London at the weekend, and will not want to be on the end of a beating themselves especially seeing as though the club are so unpredictable.

Tottenham Hotspurs started the campaign with a 1 – 0 loss at Old Trafford against Manchester United, but have since then been pretty solid at the back conceding few, but then also not scoring enough leading to a few draws. Harry Kane finally managed to score at the weekend against Manchester City, and could that be what was needed for the England striker to continue on from his success last season? Monaco themselves are sitting in a dismal ninth position, which is far below expectations seeing as though the club have invested millions to build a title challenging team.

My predictions for this game does mainly back that of a draw of some sort, even though I do see Spurs potentially being the better side on Thursday night. I do feel both teams will score in the match which makes me lean towards the both teams to score and draw bet. The next I am going for is Harry Kane to score and for Tottenham Hotspurs to grab their second win of the competition. Especially seeing as though the England striker scored at the weekend, and could carry on that confidence into this match against the French.
