Queens Park Rangers v Middlesbrough Preview, Championship, Friday 1st April 2016.

With only eight Championship games remaining for Queens Park Rangers I can imagine them pretty much giving up hope of any chance of returning to the Premier League this season. They are currently eleven points adrift the play-off positions and would require the likes of Sheffield Wednesday and Derby County to lose a majority of their remaining games.

Another issue for Queens Park Rangers is in the next five league fixtures they have some very tough sides, with Middlesbrough and Brighton & Hove Albion both in promotion situations. Charlton Athletic at home should be a routine win for QPR but then we also must consider that Charlton are fighting for survival and could easily shock their local rivals. Leeds United away from home could also be a hard game for Queens Park Rangers who are in no position to drop points if they seek promotion via the play-offs.

Middlesbrough last year threw it away with a handful of games remaining and then fell short in the play-offs to once again miss out on a return to the Premier League. Will they do the same this year who knows, even though they are currently sitting in thirds, one point behind Brighton & Hove Albion and with a game in hand. If they do win this extra game they have then they will be second and just two points behind current leaders Burnley.

Middlesbrough’s next five games should see them bag a maximum fifteen points with the only tough game being Fridays fixture against Queens Park Rangers in London. The final four games until the end of the season could be the vital ones for this promotion chasing side as they have to face league leaders Burnley away from home and then the final game of the season have Brighton & Hove Albion at home.

Queens Park Rangers Team News:

Queens Park Rangers will be hoping their midfield continue being in such fine form when they face Middlesbrough on Friday night, with Tjarron Chery so far scoring eight league goals and his partner in the middle, Matt Phillips currently with seven goals. On top of that the clubs wide men Hoilett and Sebastian Polter have also scored six each.

Middlesbrough Team News:

Middlesbrough have been without defender Daniel Ayala for nearly two months now with an ankle injury, but goods news that he could potentially make a return on Friday night against Queens Park Rangers. Although David Nugent is always hit and miss with the goals he has so far scored eight in the Championship making him the clubs top scorer. He is also joint top with Adomah and Stuart Downing with the clubs goal assists.

Queens Park Rangers v Middlesbrough Head to Head Statistics:

In the last five games played against each other we have seen Queens Park Rangers come out on top with fours wins and the one loss recorded. The last time Middlesbrough won away from home to Queens Park Rangers was back in 2009 when they humiliated their opponents 5 – 1. In total they have met on 25 occasions with Middlesbrough winning 6 to QPR’s 12 victories. We have also seen seven draws in total.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

In the 25 games played out against each other we have seen a total of 62 goals scored which is going to give us a goals per game average of 2.5. It’s not a bad statistic when looking at the above with four of the games a safe bet to bet over 2.5 goals. I do feel the below option for Fridays game could be a solid bet.

Middlesbrough are not the better team in form right now and could this be them falling short much like last season? With them in a great position to fight for promotion into the Premiership come the end of the season they really cant afford to slip up Friday. Queens Park Rangers are still in with a slight shot of the play-offs, although I do personally feel it is highly unlikely even though they have been in good form recently.

Queens Park Rangers v Middlesbrough Match Betting Odds Market

Queens Park Rangers are at home for this game on Friday and are sadly not considered as the bookmakers favourites to win the game. They will however need to if they wish to get into the play-offs with zero slip ups acceptable. The Draw could be a good option for this match considering Middlesbrough’s dip in form and the fact Queens Park Rangers have been playing well and are at home. Middlesbrough may of lost three of their last five league games but have managed to pick it back up with a win over Hull City recently. They do come into this game as the favourites to win which will see them jump up into second going into the weekend. Queens Park Rangers v Middlesbrough Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

Championship Football this Friday comes to us live via Sky Sports 1 High Definition and witnesses an in form Queens Park Rangers side potentially leaving it a little late to fight for that play-off promotion spot. They face Middlesbrough who although have lost three of the last five league games are still the favourites to win this match and jump up into second position. Piling on the pressure to Brighton & Hove Albion and league leaders Burnley.

Queens Park Rangers have some tough games coming up including that of Brighton & Hove Albion and Burnley away from home in May, and questions will be asked if this side can continue their good run up until the end of the season and once again make it into the play-offs and back into the Premier League. It will not be how they would of wished to do it, but getting back into the worlds biggest league can only be the target for a club such as QPR.

Middlesbrough like last year have once again potentially thrown it away as promotion could of been achieved easily come the end of this month. Having lost to sides such as Blackburn Rovers and then even worse with relegation battling sides Rotherham United and Charlton Athletic, they could of been four points clear at the top and with a game in hand over Burnley, leaving themselves in an incredible position come the end of the season.

A win behind closed doors against Premiership side Sunderland to give the team some confidence it brings them into this game on the back of two wins as they beat fellow promotion chasing side Hull City. Middlesbrough are the favourites to win the game on Friday night although it wont come easy especially as Queens Park Rangers have suddenly found some form under new manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

My predictions for this game is tending to lean more towards a draw come Friday, especially as both sides have now managed to string some good results together. The draw wont be good for either side with both looking for three points as they look for promotion. For my banker tip I am going to go for both teams to score and draw the game. The next I am going for is two goals exactly to be scored on the night.
