Bournemouth v Southampton Preview, Premiership, Tuesday 1st March 2016.

Bournemouth had to concentrate on getting back to their Premier League campaign having been knocked out against Everton in the FA Cup recently, and do so against Watford away from home with them managing a goalless draw thus taking a point. It puts the club five points outside the relegation zone with Newcastle United taking that eighteenth place. Newcastle United’s game this weekend was postponed and they now have a game in hand.

That said Bournemouth will need to travel to Newcastle United after they play Southampton on Tuesday, in what will be an epic battle of two clubs fighting for Premiership survival. They then host Swansea City who are also struggling in the bottom five and Bournemouth will be extremely upset if they don’t take anything from those two fixtures. It’ll be Tottenham Hotspurs and Manchester City to complete the five, who are both title challengers.

Southampton started this season extremely poorly having been knocked out of the Europa League qualifiers early on, and to also be struggling deep into the bottom half of the table. Yet since mid January they have managed to turn things around having only lost the once in their last seven games with all being league matches.

having won five and drawing once, it is only their last fixture that ended in a loss as they fell foul to an 89th minute winner at home against Chelsea who are now four points adrift of Southampton. The next three games we could see Southampton take nine points with Stoke City being the toughest. But then face Liverpool at home and Leicester City away to complete the next five fixtures.

Bournemouth  Team News:

Bournemouth will likely be without winger Junior Stanislas who had to be substituted against Watford with a hamstring injury, and we should see replacement Max Gradel take his place with his fist start since way back in August. Gradel had been out for some time due to a serious knee injury so it will be great for the club to see him return.

Southampton Team News:

Sadly I doubt Southampton fans will be seeing their striker Long feature in Tuesdays game, with him being 50/50 with a hamstring issue. They are also missing midfielder Victor Wanyama who is currently serving his third out of five game ban.

Bournemouth v Southampton Head to Head Statistics:

In the last five fixtures played out against each other we do see Premier League experienced side Southampton dominate completely with five straight wins. This is Bournemouth’s first season in the Premiership and did lose away from home in November. On paper we only have five games recorded, although with the two sides being very local i am sure there are plenty more fixtures that possibly took place in the distant past.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

In the five games previously played we have seen goals scored in each match. The goals per game average will be sitting at 2.2 and with this based off of just five games the below selection should be more than good enough come Tuesday. Incredibly though it is Southampton who have scored most of the goals, with ten and only the one conceded.

Bournemouth v Southampton Match Betting Odds Market

Bournemouth maybe at home for Tuesdays game against local rivals, yet are not considered the bookmakers favourites to actually win the game. If it does come in for the club, it will be the first competitive victory for the club against Southampton. Best odds set @ 2/1 with BetVictor – Receive £25 Free Bets when Registering a New Account

The Draw is also a statistic yet to be seen, much like the home team winning against Southampton. That said we have never seen Bournemouth in the Premiership so maybe things could change. Bournemouth v Southampton Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

Premiership action this Tuesday can be viewed live on BT Sports 1 and of course in High Definition. We see AFC Bournemouth host local rivals Southampton for the third time in their history with a hope of actually winning once. The last two times they have met Southampton at home they have lost, although in a competitive match it was five years ago.

AFC Bournemouth need to get back to digging deep and picking out wins if they wish to survive the drop come the end of the season.  They did well to earn a point at Watford at the weekend and much of the same Tuesday would also be considered a good result. Yet the next two games which are against Newcastle United and Swansea City they really do need to take all six points.

Southampton have been in some great form yet sadly their run of six games without a loss came to an end at home against champions Chelsea. It was a blow for Southampton who failed to keep out Branislav Ivanovic’s winner in the 89th minute finishing the game 2 – 1. They are favourites to bounce back on Tuesday and should win against the relegation battling side.

Southampton should also take full points off of Sunderland who sit in the bottom three and also earn something from the game against Stoke City away if things go to plan. The club then face Liverpool in which could go either way, and after this travel to league leaders Leicester City who right now do seem to be running away with it.

My predictions for this game does ignore the past between these two clubs, with Bournemouth doing so well in recent years to be even in this division. That said I do see Southampton winning the game and plan to go for both teams to score and Southampton to win as my banker.

The other prediction I’d like to make is for Bournemouth to actually earn something from the game, and for this I can only see it being a possible draw. I can’t see the home side winning this, but then we must also consider that the club have seemed to shock a few opponents this season, with Chelsea and Manchester United two worth mentioning.
