Norwich City v Ipswich Town Preview, Championship, Sunday 1st March 2015

Norwich City left it late midweek to win their game away against Blackburn Rovers, but that victory moved them up into 5th position of the Championship league table and still in with a very realistic chance of securing automatic promotion to the Premiership next season.

It will be important for Alex Neil’s side to continue their recent good form which has seen them remain unbeaten in their previous six matches although they do face a difficult looking task on Sunday afternoon when playing host to Ipswich Town.

Ipswich Town bounced back from their 1-0 defeat at home against Reading with a resounding 4-2 victory at home midweek against Birmingham City, that victory moved them back up into 3rd place in the Championship league table and just 5pts behind current league leaders Derby County.

Mick McCarthy’s side have been a bit inconsistent recently and have suffered two defeats in their last six matches played, but they have also won three out of their last four and will no doubt head into this game with confidence despite losing the reverse fixture this season at home against Norwich City 1-0.

Norwich City Team News:

Gary O’Neil, Elliott Bennett and Ryan Bennett remain unavailable for the hosts as they continue to receive treatment for respective injury related problems, but Gary Hooper is expected to start this game having missed the 2-1 victory against Blackburn midweek. Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe and Alex Tettey could also be involved at some point during the game having both recently returned back to the squad after injury.

Ipswich Town Team News:

Luke Hyam, Darren Ambrose, Stephen Hunt, Noel Hunt and David McGoldrick all remain unavailable for the visitors as they continue to receive treatment for respective injury related problems. Cole Skuse is also a major doubt having had to come off Tuesday night’s 4-2 victory over Birmingham with a back problem.

Norwich City v Ipswich Town Head to Head Statistics

Sunday Lunchtime’s game from Carrow Road will become the 54th meeting between the two clubs over the years of which Norwich City have managed 20 victories overall, 11 of those coming at home, with Ipswich Town having managed 22 victories overall, but just 7 of those coming at Carrow Road.

As we can see from our head to head statistic table below which shows the previous 5 meetings between the two clubs over recent season’s it has been Norwich City who have dominated proceedings having won an impressive 4 times, compared to Ipswich Town having won just the 1.

54 of those Goals have been scored in the previous 26 matches played at Carrow Road and this generates us an average goal scoring statistic for this game of 2.07.

Norwich City v Ipswich Town Match Betting Odds Market

Norwich City are the clear favourites for this game at a current best price of 20/23 with BetVictor – £25 Free Bets plus an addition £5 & also get 10 Free Spins, which is understandable given the fact they have not lost in their last six games played and won their last five league matches on the bounce.

The Draw is also a possible outcome as there really is very little to separate the two sides this season and at a current best price of 14/5 with Stan James – £10 Free Bets for New Customers, this could be a clever cover bet for this game.

Ipswich Town had a good result midweek when beating Birmingham City 4-2 and the players confidence will obviously be high, but for me their current best price of 7/2 with Betfred – Bet £10 & Receive £30 Free Bets for New Customers, does look about right as they have lost two of their last five matches played.

Norwich City v Ipswich Town Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

I am expecting quite a tight game on Sunday afternoon between these two clubs as they have both been playing very well this season, Ipswich Town will be looking to keep the pressure up on both Middlesbrough and Derby County who sit above them and Norwich City will also be looking to add another 3pts to their season tally which would see them go above their visitors and right in with a chance of winning the title.

The reverse fixture of this game which came towards the beginning of the new season back on the 28th of August last year, saw Norwich City come away with all 3pts from their visit to Portman Road and with the side having won all of their previous five league matches in succession, they do look to be the team to get on here at what are reasonable odds from the online bookmakers.

The average goals per game statistics are expecting this match to see a minimum of two goals scored and I would expect the score-line to be something like 2-0 or 2-1 in favour of Norwich City.

As such my Banker for this game is going to be for Norwich City to Win as I have to stick with the side that is in the better form and with home advantage as well, their case only becomes stronger.

My Saver is going to be for Cameron Jerome to Score the First Goal of the match as he came on from off the bench midweek when his side were losing against Blackburn Rovers and completely turned the game around scoring the equaliser after just 12mins of being on the pitch.
