QPR v Leeds Preview, Championship, Saturday 1st March 2014

Harry Redknapp’s Queens Park Rangers are not having the best of results this month having lost their last three games including the home game against Reading which ended 3 – 1 in Readings favour. The more recent loss to relegation battling side Charlton Athletic away from home could be the most damaging and has now allowed Derby County to over take them after also beating QPR a few games back.

Leeds United have got to be my nominated team who are the most inconsistent side in the Championships this season. With the results going either way in most games and very few goals scored it was a breath of fresh air when Leeds United hammered Huddersfield Town 5 – 1. This result caught so many off guard and a lot said that it could be what Leeds United needed to start putting together some good results.

QPR v Leeds Team News

QPR Team News:

Queens Park Rangers will be without Joey Barton this Saturday due to suspension after picking up two yellow cards in a game. The clubs top scorer Charlie Austin on 14 goals seems to have dried up in recent weeks and has failed to score since the beginning of February. Luckily enough loan striker Kevin Doyle has stepped up and scored twice in his 4 games played so far.

Leeds Team News:

The last two Championship games has seen Leeds United fire blanks but thankfully enough only conceded the one which was in the 1 – 0 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion. Even Ross McCormack has failed to influence the games after scoring an incredible 22 goals in 31 matches so far this season. He has also scored 5 goals in his last 5 games, even though Leeds haven’t scored in their last two.

QPR v Leeds Head to Head Statistics

In the last 5 head to head games between these two clubs we see that Leeds United are the better side with more wins, and even if we look at the 35 games played in total we still see Leeds United are the better side with 16 wins to QPR’s 10. We also have 9 draws with 5 of those with Leeds away from home.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

In these previous 35 matches played between these two clubs we have recorded a total of 98 goals scored which is giving us an average of 2.8 goals per game. Yet if we look at the last 5 head to head games the average is on 2 goals per game which could be more likely in Saturdays game.

QPR v Leeds Recent Form (Left to Right)

Leeds United: D L W W D

The situation at QPR is going from bad to worse with yet another poor result away from home to Charlton Athletic who are currently fighting for relegation survival. Leeds United are not that much better either with the clubs results being very inconsistent.

QPR v Leeds Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

I can see this being a very good match Saturday lunchtime and seriously hoping to see both goal shy clubs break their recent slump in poor form. In the last three games for both clubs we have only seen a total of three goals between them which is extremely poor and boring if a neutral.

Queens Park Rangers were favourites to bounce back up into the Premiership and things were going so well at the beginning of this seasons campaign. But with the extreme poor form in recent months we have seen the home side lose six and draw three which is terrible for a club looking for automatic promotion. With this slump we see QPR drop down to 4th with seven points between them and Burnley who occupy 2nd position.

Leeds United are a side who once won trophies although those memories seem so distant these days. Their form is very inconsistent and any fan or neutral supporter could not fully predict just how they will play on the day. So lets get down to some predictions for this Saturday lunchtime game. Personally I feel QPR will work hard and grab a win here and I feel as though loan striker Kevin Doyle will continue his fine form and grab a goal within the game. The other I am going for is a score draw on the day, with both teams scoring record in recent weeks hitting the rocks this prediction could well be on the cards if they do manage to hit the target.
