Getafe v Espanyol Preview, Primera La Liga, Saturday 1st March 2014

It has been a very disappointing season so far for all Getafe fans as their club currently sits placed in 15th position of the Primera La Liga table and with no hope of qualification to Europe, their main aim now is to focus on survival as with just 4pts seperating them from the relegation places, manager Luis Garcia and his players are still far from safe and the importance of winning this game on saturday evening in front of their home fans could be crucial.

Espanyol are also having a poor season and currently occupy 10th position in the Primera La Liga table, but on 32pts they do seem safe enough for the moment to ensure they will be playing top flight football again next season and a victory for them in this game would go a long way towards securing that.

Getafe v Espanyol Team News

Getafe Team News:

Defenders Rafa and Alexis are the only two casualties for the hosts for this game as they continue to receive treatment for respective injury problems. Other than that manager Luis Garcia has a full squad to choose from and is likely to see the clubs current top goalscorer Pedro Leon involved in the attack up front who will be looking for his 7th goal of the season.

Espanyol Team News:

The visitors have no reported injuries or suspensions for this game so manager Javier Aguirre can name his strongest lineup available which is likely to include Sergio Garcia and Christian Stuani leading the attack up front.

Getafe v Espanyol Match Betting Odds Market.

Getafe are having a very difficult time of it lately and having last won a game at home back in November last year, it does come as a bit of a surprise to me to see the online bookmakers having the hosts priced up as the clear favourites to win this game at odds of 13/8 with Sky Bet (£30 Free Bets for New Customers).

The Draw has not been a result that has happened often when these two clubs have met each other over the years, but with Getafe desperate for points at the moment, it could well pay off getting on the draw as your main saver bet for this game at a best price of 9/4 with Stan James (£10 Free Bets for New Customers).

Espanyol will head into this game with plenty of confidence having won their last game away 2-1 against Athletic Bilbao and for me their current best price of 2/1 with Ladbrokes (£50 Free Bets for New Customers) does look the value play here.

Getafe v Espanyol Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

Hard to get excited about this game as neither side has really been setting the world a light this season, but there can be no question how important getting something from this game is for Getafe as another defeat could see them brought much closer to the relegation places and although Luis Garcia’s side have not won a game at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez since November last year, I can certainly see them putting up a bit of a fight here.

However, Espanyol won their last game on the road with an impressive 1-2 victory against Athletic Bilbao and I can certainly see them being the more confident out of the two sides in this game and for me do look the more likely winners.

The average goals per game statistics suggest this game to see around two goals scored, but with Getafe only having managed to score four times in their last six games it doesn’t look likely they will get more than one at most and with Espanyol having also only scored four in their last six, they also don’t look like scoring more than one, so the Under 2.5 Goals betting market does seem to stand out here as being the best value play along with a correct score saver double, that should hopefully see us collecting some profit from the bookmakers.
