Liverpool v Manchester City Preview, Premiership, Sunday 1st March 2015.

Liverpool come into this home encounter on the back of a big loss to Besiktas. The big loss wasn’t that of a huge score yet it was a big loss in terms of Liverpool being knocked out of the Europa League on penalties after the two sides ended the two legs 1 – 1 on aggregate. In Liverpool’s last five fixtures in all competitions they have won the other four which actually puts them ahead of their opponents Manchester City when we come down to form. Liverpool have managed to move up into sixth position and could go as high as forth depending on other Premiership results over the weekend.

Manchester City have also suffered to a recent loss yet this time round it was against Spanish giants Barcelona in the Champions League 1st leg at The Etihad. I did predict that both teams would score and Barcelona to win yet also did fancy Manchester City to win on the night as my other which sadly never came in. Now the English Champions have a mountain to climb in the away leg in Spain yet we do know that City have played well in the past at the Camp Nou. In the last five fixtures Manchester City have also only won twice while also drawing the remaining two, meaning like Liverpool have only lost once recently.

Liverpool Team News:

Liverpool have a massive injury list right now with captain and vice captains both missing. Steven Gerrard is suffering with his hamstring while Jordan Henderson has an ankle injury. Defenders Sakho (hip), Jose Enrique (knee) and Jon Flanagan (hamstring) are all out of action while Lucas Leiva (groin) and goalkeeper Brad Jones (thigh) also sit out.

Manchester City Team News:

Manchester City see the return of Yaya Toure from suspension after he missed the game against Barcelona. Apart from that City have a fully fit squad with no injury woes, unlike what we see at Liverpool. Striker Wilfred Bony has made a couple of appearances this last week after coming off the bench and this game could be his first start since signing from Swansea City.

Liverpool v Manchester City Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

Premiership action on Sunday comes to us live on Sky Sports 1 High Definition and features Liverpool verses Manchester City at the Anfield ground. This fixture has been looked forward too for some time as the games between these two are often very exciting with plenty of goals and action. The last time we see these two face each other and the game ending goalless was back in 2010 at the Etihad Stadium.

Both sides are in good form recently even though they have both lost their last most recent game in Europe. Manchester City lost as home to Barcelona for their first leg meeting, while Liverpool were knocked out in Turkey against Besiktas when the two ended 1 – 1 on aggregate and Liverpool losing on penalties come the end of the night. Apart from that Liverpool are having the better results with the other four out of the five being wins. Where as Manchester City have won and drawn twice in recent weeks.

My predictions for this game will at first back Liverpool to work hard and earn a draw of some kind, while the other I am going for is against what the bookmakers are backing and actually go for Liverpool to win somehow. So for the first I am going to go for a correct score of 2 – 2 as I do feel the game will be a high scoring event with both defences suffering. The next will be for both teams to score and for Liverpool to win the match after ninety minutes.
